Bera Safari Lodge

Bera Safari Lodge One of the few Places on Earth where Among Human Settlements leopards Thrive, Explore the Unique Rel That would be the end of the leopard’s last refuge.

Leopards are nowhere easy to see - they are shy, elusive, and well camouflaged & know human habits well enough to remain like a ghost in the darkness. To find them, you need to first find yourself in the hands of one of the best leopard trackers in the region. Meet Shatrunjay Pratap - a passionate photographer, leopard-lover & ardent conservationist. Not only does he know the leopards in the area

well, he is also one of the reasons why these leopards still have a home in Bera. A few years ago, the rocky out-cropping’s made of valuable granite & what provides a home & refuge to a healthy leopard population was granted mining lease. Shatrunjay and his team swung into action after a years running around from pillar to post managed to convince the Rajasthan Government & stopped the mining. Now Shatrunjay has dedicated his life to living with these leopards & along with his family has made a home among the boulders of Bera in the heart of leopard country. This is Bera Safari Lodge, Is a small, luxurious boutique homestay run by Shatrunjay and his wife Katyaini who makes the place feel like home to anyone who visits.

Normally self-triggering camera-traps go unnoticed or takes a little while before the cats get used to them. Once they realise these inanimate funny looking boxes mean no harm the cats continue as they normally do. A great way of getting a little spy insight into the lives of otherwise secretive leopards.

Watch and wild cats of India on where wildlife cameraman goes in search of India’s most elusive felines.
