Thousands of people gathered at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple on wednesday to witness ‘Pallivetta' rites.

The idol (‘thidambu') was taken in a procession (‘Ezhunnalippu') to the Pazukka Mandapam. ‘Gramapradakshinam' rites followed. They began with Tiruvalur Sreekumaran Namboodiri performing ‘deepardhana' near the Kodimaram. The rites were performed to the accompaniment of Pandi Melam, featuring about a hundred musicians, nadaswaram performance, and bhajans. ‘Gramapradakshinam' concluded at the Vadakke Nadappura.

‘Arattu' rites will be performed on Thursday. Later, the tanthri will lower the ceremonial flag to mark the conclusion of the 10-day annual temple festival.
