After countless attempts to capture an image of the wild elephants with our motion sensor cameras over the years, that frequent Kerehaklu in search of jackfruit, our arecanut palm trees(supari) and toddy palm particularly at this time of the year, we finally hit the jackpot by getting five pictures of this young bull elephant on his nightly wandering on the night of the 4th of April. We don't mind having them around, but the only down side to them being in Kerehaklu is that push down and break open the trunks of atleast 50 acrecanut trees every year which is a huge loss for us.

Our coffee bushes have been blossoming since the first rains we received on the 6th of Feb - and a follow up a few days later. A little too early as the first rains are in March usually - the climate clock has gone topsy-turvy! The coffee blossom always is still a sight to behold

Our new Wildview camera trap has a great video function which we've been using along regular animal pathways

The traffic is getting unbearable...

Jokes aside, we have never come across so many Bison in Kerehaklu which strongly suggests that climate change has affected their movement patterns. The nearby forestland seem to lack the necessary food, water and shelter to sustain these big herds, which force them to move into properties like ours.

Three photographs taken by our guest Mrs. Suman Karanth at 7.30am on the 26th of Dec using her phone. This was during our trek up to the nearby hill and this Indian Gaur (Bison) appears to be an adult male.
Note the height of the Gaur's head in the first image - which was well over 6.5 feet at the tip of his horns

We've been using the cucumber and pumpkin grown on our own veggie patch in our cooking - last weekend's guests were the first to try them! Also discovered cocoa plants around the Kerehaklu plantation and we we plan to roast the beans soon

This Indian forest skink (Sphenomorphus indicus) came out to soak up as much as sun as it could between rains. We often catch brief glimpses of them around lunchtime or in the evenings when they come to pick up some small insects.

A green vine snake was also seen basking on one of the plantation roads the same day, but got away quickly after sensing our vibrations
