Two years ago, when Just for Women Homestays was still new,
our very first guest arrived through a simple WhatsApp message.
A mother and her child.

That evening, they chose not to have dinner.
Lunch had been heavy.
She said softly, as her son played around,
“He eats only with ghee and salt.
Afternoon white rice will do.”

Just in case, I kept a small bowl of hot rice aside.
When she ate it, she paused and said,
“I don’t remember the last time
I ate hot rice like this for dinner.”
Office work.
Home chores.
Days that just pass by.

That moment stayed with me.
It reminded me that hosting isn’t about elaborate meals.
Sometimes, a simple bowl of hot rice is also care.

Some guests leave behind memories.
Some leave behind responsibility.

And on a lighter note,
I picked up a new habit ,
rice, ghee, and salt as the first bite of my meal.
I had never tried it before.
It tastes heavenly.
Our guests chose to keep their privacy,
so the pictures are blurred.
But today, I couldn’t stop myself from sharing the moment.

Why only women homestays?
I’m asked this often.
My challenge isn’t accepting bookings.
It’s cancelling many of them
because this space is only for women.

People say,
“We’ll adjust as a family.”
But the answer remains No.

For a long time, I didn’t have a clear explanation, about why not for others when there is availability & people are willing to pay!

Then yes- some spaces are not meant to adjust or compromise.
They are meant to wait, for the ones who are looking for something to really trust by the name- itself.
