Sree Mangala Devi Kannagi Temple,

Mangaladevi Kannagi Temple is an ancient historic temple located in the border of Idukki District of Kerala, about 7 km from Pazhiyankudi in Theni district and 15 km from Thekkady, Periyar.

What To Expect?
Hike up to the temple, explore its ruins and check out the Pandyan architecture and the steps of the temple made of huge stones. Watch the priests perform holy rituals and the women offering Pongal (cooked rice) to the goddess.

Tips
The temple is open during April/May, on the Chitrapournami festival held on a full moon day.
A prior permission has to be acquired from the wildlife warden of Thekkady, to visit the temple.
You need to get on a jeep at the entrance of the reserve, to cover the 12 kilometres distance to the temple.
Check out the varied flora and fauna in the surrounding forest area.

The place called Sathram in Thekkady was traditionally used by pilgrims and devotees of Lord Ayappan on their way to the Sabarimala Temple. It was a resting point .
