Pied kingfishers are typically around 17-19 centimeters in length and weigh between 50 and 75 grams. They have a short, squared tail, a long pointed bill, and a crest of feathers on their head. Their black and white plumage is designed to help them blend in with the water while they are hunting for fish.
Pied kingfishers are known for their unique hunting technique. They fly over the water, hovering briefly before diving in headfirst to catch fish with their sharp bills. They are able to adjust the focus of their eyes to accurately calculate the position of the fish in the water, making them highly effective hunters.
Pied kingfishers are typically found near water sources such as lakes, rivers, and streams. They are not considered to be endangered, although some populations may be threatened by habitat loss and pollution.
Overall, they are fascinating and beautiful birds that are enjoyed by birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts all around the world. Come and enjoy the nature and amazing birds here at Wild Kasarwadi

As the temperatures continue to soar, it's important to keep our feathered friends in mind. Birds need water just as much as we do, especially during a heat wave. Here are a few reasons why:

Birds use water to regulate their body temperature.

Water helps birds maintain their feathers, which are essential for flight and insulation.

Birds also need water for bathing, which helps keep their feathers clean and healthy.

So, if you have a bird-friendly garden or live in an area with lots of avian visitors, consider putting out a water source for them. It doesn't have to be anything fancy - a shallow dish or bird bath will do. Just make sure to keep it clean and filled with fresh water.
Here are some hashtags you can use to spread the word and encourage others to do the same:

sure to keep it clean and filled with fresh water.

In this fast moving world very few among us are able to cherish and live in tune with nature . At wild Kasarwadi every guest shares with us a part of their life which we love and admire. Some however leave an everlasting mark on our hearts and minds.
One such eminent person who visited wild kasarwadi shared our undying love for wilderness. Mithun, came to wild kasarwadi as a renowned wildlife photographer, but he left as part of the wild ķasarwadi family . We owe to him the very essence of the dining area i.e. the photographs of black panther he clicked at Dandeli. The prowess and beauty of the photograph shows his skill and passion for wildlife. His gift is most cherished by us and we hope that he keeps visiting wild kasarwadi

Thank You Mithun photography

❤️One of the finest moment when we witnessed this rare Sri Lankan frog mouth , its call itself excited us and pushed us to our feet and finally we could see this beautiful rare bird❤️.

The bunch coloration of this bird resembles that of dried leaves and as these birds roosts quietly on branches makes difficult to see it.
