A beautiful day at Queen of Hills Darjeeling.
There is a distinct rhythm to a beautiful day in Darjeeling. It begins long before the town wakes up, when the horizon at Tiger Hill turns a brilliant shade of amber and gold, illuminating the world’s third-highest peak.
As you walk down the winding slopes of the Mall Road, the cool mountain breeze carries the rich, earthy aroma of the surrounding tea gardens. Clouds drift lazily through the pine trees, playing a constant game of hide-and-seek with the valley below.

Tamang
Are one of the most prominent indigenous ethnic communities originating from the central hilly and Himalayan regions of Nepal, with a deeply rooted presence across the Eastern Himalayas, including Sikkim, Darjeeling in West Bengal, and Bhutan.
Etymologically, the name "Tamang" is believed to derive from the ancient Tibetan words "Ta" (horse) and "Mak" or "Mang" (warrior or rider), pointing to a historical lineage as skilled mountain horsemen or cavalry.
1. Spiritual Life: The Blend of Bon & Buddhism
The spiritual identity of the Tamang people is a unique, layered system. While the vast majority practice Mahayana Buddhism (Lamaism), their daily practices are deeply intertwined with Bon, an ancient, pre-Buddhist shamanistic religion of Tibet and the Himalayas.
Because of this dual heritage, Tamang rituals rely on three distinct types of cultural and spiritual leaders:

The Bonbo (or Jhakri)
The Tamba
