Scenes and sights from Rampuria Village. We are in the midst of the monsoons... it's wet and foggy everywhere but there is a bountiful of food crops in our small land. Whenever there is a respite from the downpour the sky opens up and the hills and valleys look clean and sharp.

We look forward to welcoming visitors when the time is right so that we do not compromise on the safety of our communities as well as our guests. Till then please stay safe

We are in the midst of the monsoons in the Darjeeling Hills. Our food gardens are bountiful now. Wild edibles which make a large part of our diet are also plentiful. In the second wave of COVID 19, our village was not affected as many of the other rural areas around us. We are making attempts to ensure that everyone eligible gets their shots.

When all this is over we will be happy to have you and your family with us. Till then please stay safe and healthy.

Till then please stay safe till we see you again.

Thank you to all the guests who came and stayed with us this January-February. The pandemic has been hard for all of us but slowly and surely we will come out of it.

Even though there is a chill in the air and most days are grey, Rampuria farmers have worked hard through the winter and our village is now teeming with winter vegetables.

Come enjoy our locally produced food and be a part of the community in 2021. And yes please let us know about the experience of your stay with us.

Blue skies and nippy air as winter is around the corner. Before that, the people of Rampuria are getting ready for the lovely festival of tihar which is celebrated for about a week. Yet for the people there is work to be done....food (vegetables) to be sowed and grown. This December the community managed tourism committee will welcome tourists. The stay here will be experiential, it won't be like a hotel or a guest house with lots of other tourists. You will be able to live with the family, talk to them, eat with them in their kitchen, and discuss with them their daily lives. Please expect a simple, clean living but no luxuries. Expect a lot of warmth and great hospitality like their family guests when you live with them. Come in a group of 3-4 so that you reduce the footfall and the footprint.

Bright blue skies, hills, and mountains visible as far as the eyes can see, beautiful sunrise and Dasain the biggest festival of the communities in Rampuria. The air is nippy but the ambiance is festive. Also, time for some hard work- to make the fields ready for post-monsoon sowing of potatoes, peas, mustard seeds, and cauliflower. Festivities are over and families are busy at work in Rampuria. There is never time to waste for the hardworking farmers of Rampuria.

Happy Dasai to everyone.

Post-monsoon when the sky is clear and the air is crisp and nippy, the snow-covered mountain peaks are visible and the faraway valleys are breathtakingly beautiful. It is time for the annual festival of the people in the hills-Dasai.

Rampuria is known for its vegetable produce and this time they are in abundance. Farmers sell these in the nearby market and earn an income...so what if the size of the land is small....it is very productive. Come enjoy the local food eaten by the communities here....they are local, seasonal, and organically grown. When the communities are ready they will be there to welcome you. Rampuria is surrounded by beautiful evergreen forests and crystal clear streams. There are trails that people use to collect forest resources for their daily needs. These trails can also be used to visit beautiful habitats that are clean and devoid of plastics. Communities will be able to identify areas that can be walked by tourists. You may sight butterflies, spiders, beetles, and other insects along with birds and yes orchids. Just taking a quiet walk along these trails is a reward by itself.

Today is World Tourism Day and after the pandemic, we hope that the Darjeeling hills will build and plan for responsible tourism. We at Rampuria would prefer to have fewer but more responsible guests...guests who care about nature and local culture.

Come and enjoy what nature has to offer in Rampuria.
