All my elders kept saying ~ when i was in my mother’s womb, she was bitten by the travel bug. I was lucky to have got married into a family that was bitten by a hoard of big king size travel bugs. Ever since I am married, I have been in and out of Mumbai – exploring the globe. In spite of my husband being a CA and we having to bring up two sons, we have somehow managed to live out of suitcases and
see as much of world as is possible. In all these travels, my most precious memories are of staying in homes of friends n locals and i am extremely grateful for that. This is one of the main reason that i have decided to open my home (difficult) and heart (easier) for like minded people to come and stay with us and enjoy home comforts in Dehradoon. I am located at far end of Rajpur Road so it is away from the maddening crowd and chaos of the city. The location is peaceful yet easily approachable and to my luck, the rear end of the house is accompanied by a large Mango orchard…Sad that we don’t get to eat those mangos but certainly – we enjoy company of many a birds specially parrots and a pair of Hornbills who nest there! Our home is open to all who value comforts of the home and finer things - sparkling clean toilets , white bed sheets , warm quilts accompanied by soft pillows and hearty breakfasts
My home is popular especially with Dosco families (more so as my son is in The Doon School ) and other boarding schools like Wellams, Oaklands etc. Parents typically stay for night outs n day outings.Moms can use kitchen facilities for cooking goodies for their kids. I also welcome (a really soft corner of our hearts ) trekkers from the nearby Himalayan Mountains. Being a trekker, I know hoe invaluable are those hot water baths, soups and clean linen. I know how these facilities generally taken for granted feel heavenly after a good mountain trek. u can also use the washing machine for cleaning clothes and then sit in the lawn to soak in the sun. Enjoy the comforts of warm rajais while your sleeping bags remain packed in your bags! Tourists in transit will find my place comfy for that stopover on their way to Chardham or while coming back from a pilgrimage or hill stations like Mussorie, Dhanolty or Kanatal etc. I would not be surprised if having come once, you would wish to come back again!
