New Delhi Local Information :

When India gained independence from British rule in 1947, Delhi was declared the capital city and the seat of government. The city, planned by Edwin Lutyens - a leading 20th century British architect, is known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and numerous national institutions and historic landmarks. These icons are testimony to the grandeur of the past and also serve as major attractions for visitors to the city. Owing to the migration of people from across the country, Delhi has grown to be a cosmopolitan metropolis. Its rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed the city completely. Today Delhi is a major cultural, political, and commercial center of India. Lotus Temple (8.5 kms): This Baháí House of Worship, popularly known as the Lotus Temple due to its flower like shape is an architectural marvel. Scriptures from all religions are read here during prayer service. Qutub Minar (8 kms): Qutb-u'd-Din Aibak laid the foundation of the world's tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 meters in AD 1199. The balconies on its 5 storey’s afford sweeping views of the surroundings. India Gate (9 kms.): This freestanding arch located at Rajpath is 42m high. India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1931 in memory of the 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who laid down their lives during World War I. An eternal flame is lit here to honour the immortal soldiers. Rashtrapati Bhawan (8 kms.): The official residence of the President of India, this 340 rooms heritage building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Red Fort (17 kms.): A historical fort built in 1638, this was the seat of the Mughal rulers of India till the last emperor was dethroned. The fort houses a museum of arms and armour from the Mughal period. An evening of sound & light show captures the history of the fort.

“Good hotel, great location!”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

I enjoyed a three-night stay at this hotel recently. The hotel is located close to the heart of Delhi. Being situated right opposite the Green Park metro station makes it a good choice for tourists looking to explore the city using Delhi’s clean, well-connected and efficient metro system. Shopping areas like Connaught Place, Dilli Haat, Khan Market and South Extension are all within a short ride (< 15 mins) away, and even places further away like Chandni Chowk are easily accessible.

The hotel itself is boutique-sized with about 50 rooms in all. The room I stayed in though relatively small in size was well appointed with a nice utilization of space. I thought the facilities in the bathroom were also adequate, but the shower area may be deemed to be small for “plus-sized” guests. The breakfast spread was not as elaborate as I’ve had in some other 4-star hotels, but it had all the usual choices. Wifi in the room was free and always on, so no complaints on that front. There was only one issue that I can think of. I had asked for a non-smoking, but was given what I think was a smoking room. (I decided not to change rooms as I liked the view, and the smell went away after I had the AC on for an hour.)

Overall I would consider this hotel to be a very good choice at this price band.

“Great Location, Comfortable Stay”
Reviewed 3 February 2012

We spent three nights, including New Year's Eve. The location is excellent as it is across from Green Park Metro Station. The hotel is very modern with appealing decor, comfortable beds, great service, and a nice onsite restaurant. The hotel is in walking distance to a shopping area that has everything from chemists to a wonderful sweet shop. Delhi is so spread out and congested and we found this to be an ideal location for exploring. The area is quiet at night and you can't beat having a metro stop across the street. The value is excellent considering the price of other comparable hotels in Delhi.

“KUDOS!”

I am not writing this review because I live and study with the son of the owner of this fantastic hotel but my review comes from a general level of satisfaction I got from my various visits to THE ASHTAN~ this hotel gives the traveller, either for a business of leisure purpose, a fulfilling experience in terms of location, price, facilities and a very professional and purpose oriented attitude. The rooms are fully equipped and comfortably equipped with modern furniture and most of all high speed internet!! The multi-cuisine restaurant more than quenches the appetite by its authentic yet perfect variety! Overall I would recommend this hotel as a perfect place to stay in delhi for a wide array of purposes.Lastly but more importantly the staff are highly accommodative and polite to make your stay even more sweeeet!

“Excellent Hotel”

All in all a really good experience. I stayed for one night before heading back to Europe, therefore the location out of the center of Delhi wasn't a problem.
The Ashtan arranged a train station pick-up combined sightseeing and suggested places to go. All excellent places, I will definitely take their advice again. The driver was really nice and kind.
If you have been to Delhi before its a good starting or ending point for your trip. The area is fine, the small mall/ bazar 2 minutes away is local and nice to see.The Green Park Metro station is just across the road which makes connectivity easy. The hotel driver- Ganesh was very helpful , and seemed to know more about delhi than the guides themselves!
Travelling alone the place is super as you can spend time in the spa and eat in the very good rooftop restaurant.

I forgot my iPad in the room -- the management send it to me in London. Thank you!
I will stay there again.
