Bhagsu cake - the full story
It all started here, not a long time ago, when Singh corner was just a small corner with only Chai and Paratha. One day, Mr. Singh from Singh corner realized that he wants something special in his corner. He didn‘t know what it should be, but he felt the desire in his heart. He then met a man with a great talent for cakes; and his heart was touched. Mr. Singh asked the man to teach him the art. The man though about it for some time and decided to teach him. To show the man his passion, Mr. Singh told him, he would surprise him with the best cake he ever had...
Luckily, some girls that were travelling India were living next to Singh Corner. They heard about the wild promise to the cake man and decided to help Mr. Singh to keep it. Weeks went by, while the team was giving birth to the Bhagsu Cake. Every day, they made cakes in different shapes and colors, just for themselves and for everyone who was lucky enough to pass by Singh Corner. One month later, they suddenly knew they had reached their goal. Mr. Singh knew instantly that the cake they had created that day, was the one his heart desired.
For some time, Bhagsu Cake was nameless. Many different names were offered to Mr. Singh by his friends and family, but none of them touched his heart. But one day, his heart spoke again and the cake was named Bhagsu Cake, after the God of the area, as Mr. Singh wanted all the people to have Bhagsu’s blessings.
Mr. Singh then took the cake to the talented cake man and was excited to see his reaction. The talented cake man took a bite of Bhagsu Cake, opened his eyes wide and a big smile showed on his face. „Wow, how did you do it? “, he asked. Mr. Singh replied with a smile: „It is a secret recipe. “Years went past and almost all of the other restaurants in the area were trying to make the same cake. Bhagsu Cake became so famous, that people started making copies of it in Rajasthan, Goa, Nepal and even as far as the Andaman Islands. It might look and feel almost the same, but there is just no magic to the other cakes. And until this day, nobody really knows how to get the taste of Singh Corner Bhagsu Cake, the taste that makes you happy.
