n a home for legendary souls, among them one was Shyama Charan Lahiri "Lahiri Mahasaya" who was deemed to obtain the knowledge of Kriya Yoga from Mahavatar Babaji in a substantial cave near Dunagiri. In 1861, when Lahiri Mahasaya was transferred to Ranikhet, it is believed that Mahasaya was enchanted by the voice which directed him to the cave where his later to become guru Mahavatar Babaji was already waiting for him.
