Tiime has flown, and it's already been a month since team has escaped the Delhi heat to come to the mountains to in ladakh.
We've been running some day trips to some of the bouldering and sport climbing venues around Leh, for both beginners and seasoned climbers. As always, get in touch if you'd like to come along. We've also been scouting the rock around disko valley to open up some new lines.
In addition, the crashpad team has been working on a sustainable architecture project, building the hall in the photo. It's made with mostly natural or recycled materials. The walls have been built with earth bags at the bottom, plastered with some locally sourced reddish purple clay. The top.part of the walls is out of reed mats fixed on a wooden frame to let the breeze in but keep the sun out. The roof has been made out of waste bamboo we got from an old construction site, covered with a tarp and a discarded military parachute to make it waterproof.
We're hosting a land art festival Saladakh, and while we've been at work building this hall and refurbishing a bamboo hut next to it, several artists have been creating their artwork around the campsite. The hall will host some workshops over the coming few weeks, details will be posted on the saladakh page.
The land art festival is on until 23rd August, so if you're in Leh, drop by.
