Also known as the Elephant Mansion, the hotel has its origin rooted in the royal heritage of Sikkim which was then an independent country. The Royal Heritage Hotel was constructed in 1963 for royal guests during the coronation of Sikkim's last King Palden Thondup Namgyal. Dignitaries from all across the world w

ere travelling to Sikkim during that time to attend the coronation. Due to lack of luxurious accommodations for the guest, the king ordered for construction of this mansion. From the time of their arrival till their departure, the dignitaries were given royal Sikkimese hospitality. The Royal Heritage Hotel aims to take the same tradition forward and provide the best Sikkimese hospitality to its guests. The guests can experience Bhutia, Lepcha and Nepalese traditions all into one, blended with royalty. This hotel is the only heritage hotel in the entire state.
