The 17th V. Venkata Rao Memorial Lecture was successfully conducted today, on 31 January, at the Seminar Hall, Department of Geography, Gauhati University.
The programme was graced by Professor Nanigopal Mahanta, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, as the Chief Guest. The Welcome Address was delivered by Professor Dhrubajyoti Sahariah, Warden, and Professor Dhruba Pratim Sharma honoured the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The event was also attended by Professor Prasanta Bhattacharya, Head of the Department of Geography, and Professor Anup Saikia.
The V. Venkata Rao Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. Diganta Kumar Das, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, on the topic “Sustainability and the City: How Can We Build a Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive City? A Whole-of-the-City Approach.”
