Our Story
“Shimzun” is a Tangkhul Naga word which can be roughly translated as “shelter” or “a resting home”. It is a very endearing and comforting term for a traveler. The term is most meaningful when pictured with the olden days when people used to travel on foot to far-away places, for various purposes. When a traveler went to a new place or wanted to halt for the night at some place along the way, he would look for some house to take shelter in. The family that took him in and provided food and shelter became his shimzun.
