It is becoming increasingly evident that the existing number of rooms and beds available across hospitality properties in Haflong is falling short of meeting the rising tourist demand—especially during the current summer season. Just today, we had to regrettably turn away accommodation requests from more than 18 callers who were urgently seeking a place to stay for the night. This is not only unfortunate but also a clear indication of the widening gap between demand and available infrastructure.
Looking ahead, we foresee a significantly higher tourist inflow during the peak season—spanning from October to February—when Haflong typically witnesses an even greater surge in visitors. If we are already facing such challenges in the off-peak period, it is imperative that we act now.
There is an urgent need to increase the number of hospitality properties, as well as the rooms and beds available, to accommodate this growing demand. We strongly believe this presents a golden opportunity for aspiring and young entrepreneurs to step forward and invest in the tourism and hospitality sector of Haflong. With the right vision and ex*****on, they can not only contribute to the district’s economic growth but also tap into a promising and sustainable business opportunity.
The time to act is now.
