The name hints at movement and exchange, and the drink follows suit. Saffron and rose come through first, then Tanqueray No. 10 holds it steady with a dry citrus edge. Clean, soft and left with a lingering trace of vanilla ~

Johri Bazaar doesn’t begin with jewellery.
It begins at the sabzi mandi 🌶️🦚🛺

Vegetables still cool from the harvest, fruit stacked in symmetry, coriander tied in fragrant bunches.
The air feels fresh, almost green. Vendors move with a rhythm, voices carrying across the lanes, while monkeys dart overhead as if part of the scene.

It’s unpolished, abundant, and full of movement; an opening note that sets the pace for the day - at the bazaar and at The Johri, Jaipur

🦜🐅🌴At the family temple at The Johri Jaipur, the surrounding walls are covered with hand-painted frescoes that hold fragments of older storytelling traditions. Working on lime plaster, artisans apply mineral pigments while the surface is still damp, allowing colour to settle into the limestone itself. Over time the tones soften, but the drawings remain clear 🦚🦩

Many of these motifs come from local folklore and folktales, the kind that once travelled easily between homes, temples, and gatherings. The palette moves through mineral reds, indigo blues, soft yellows, and greens.

A generous exchange between Chef Vanika and Chef Sonu at The Johri; where distinct cuisines met with flavour and intent. From the Aravallis to the Himalayas, the evening unfolded through layered flavours, anchored by the warmth of Johri’s hospitality.

Grateful for a beautiful dinner, thoughtful collaboration, and everyone who gathered to share it.
