Walkway to Nahargarh Fort-

If you love to walk to explore places around town, Jaipur offers many trekking opportunities. One little trek up to the grand 18th century fort on the hilltop that offers a breathtaking view of the entire city of Jaipur is the long, winding road that leads up to the Nahargarh Fort. Built during the days of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century, this road was frequently used by the caretakers of the fort to make sure that the fort does not run out of supplies. The road ends at the back gate of Nahargarh Fort. While Nahargarh fort in Jaipur overlooks the skyline by daylight hours, the fort creates a spectacular view when floodlit nocturnally. Early morning before the sunrise is the ideal time to start the climb.

Kalki Temple

The four great epochs in Hinduism are: Satya Yuga (the Golden age of truth and perfect morality), Treta Yuga (the silver age) , Dwapar Yuga (the bronze age) and Kal Yuga (the iron age of decline). We are now in the Kal Yug, the age of decline and degeneration of human values. It is believed that the Hindu God Vishnu, the Preserver, will reincarnate as Kalki to deliver mankind from the horrors of Kal Yug. Mythology tells us that Vishnu will come riding a white horse with a shining sword in his hand as Kalki, the saviour, and it is Kalki who would eventually restore order out of the prevailing chaos and confusion of Kal Yug. Facing the temple of Kalki in one corner is a canopied kiosk which contains a fine white marble statue of a horse. The connection is clear: when Kalki arrives, he will find his mount ready! Kalki temple has a generally deserted look. Few devotees. No prayers. Clearly, Kalki’s time has not yet come! But who knows, in the timeless turning of the heavens and the earth, Kalki may not be very far away.

Opposite the Sireh Dyori gate in pink city lies the hidden but beautiful temple of Kalki.. The place offers splendid photography opportunities for visitors!
