Mandana and Tikri, together on one wall.

Mandana is the old village art of white motifs on an earthy red base, the kind you’d see on mud walls and doorsteps during festivals. Tikri is all about tiny mirror pieces that catch the light. We wanted to see what happens when the two sit side by side, and honestly, we love how it turned out.

At The Kafila Desert Camp, we always try to bring in local crafts, especially the ones from around us. And we don’t do it alone. We work with women from the nearby villages who’ve grown up with these art forms. They know them better than anyone.

So when you stay with us, a little of their work, their hands and their stories, is right there around you.
