The history of havelis in Jaisalmer dates back to the 18th century. From the ornate windows to motifs on sandstone walls, our interiors are steeped in regal Rajasthani aesthetics & history.

Each colour too, holds cultural significance. For instance, red symbolises pride and glory in Rajput culture while Indigo cultivation is an age-old custom which stands the test of time.

Oh what a joy it is to wake up late in cozy room of a Haveli on a super warm day but yet so satisfied mornings. The sun may be fierce outside but its shine inside is so soothing. Gazing the barren desert with silent joy and having brunch sitting on windowsill next to the love ; you have always imagined.
Then the abstract joy of chasing pretty sunset over the sand dunes and enjoying live folk music hits different.

Ofcourse this summer shall always be remembered
in hope that it could all be paused,
in hope to hold on these precious loving moments
without any questions or clause .
Indeed , I will hold on to them till I am broken ;
to cherish my days in Jaisalmer a little longer.

Around 1500 years ago, the Bhat community of Rajasthan brought a vibrant and rural folk art to life: Kathputlis (string puppets).

Traditionally performed for royal families, Kathputli art was considered a matter of great honor and prestige. Till date, it is a popular source of entertainment in village fairs, festivals, and social gatherings.

The word Kathputli is a combination of two Rajasthani words - KATH (wood) and PUTLI (doll). The harmony of these string puppets dancing on the beats of folk music is truly mesmerizing.

Throughout time they have been used to narrate stories of achievements of Rajasthani rulers, highlight social issues, or simple plays for a good laugh.

While you're exploring the Golden City, Jaisalmer, don't forget to enjoy a musical Kathputli show at Desert Culture & Museum. You will get a glimpse of artifacts and intriguing stories from around the desert.

Did you know Jharokhas hold a special place in the magnificent architecture of Rajasthani palaces and Havelis?
Apart from being a fascinating architectural beauty, they were traditionally carved for women of the family.

Jharokhas let the queen and princesses bask in the sunshine and glance at the outdoor view while allowing them to hide in plain sight.

Moreover, the overhanging structure of a Jharokha offered a canopy for archers and spies to position themselves against any attack.
