Nestled within upper Assam’s Gatoonga tea estate, Banyan Grove is a century-old heritage tea bungalow named after the majestic 150–200-year-old banyan tree _(Ficus benghalensis)_
Once known as Mistry Sahib’s Bungalow, this colonial era bungalow remains part of the family heritage of late Padma Shri Hemendra Prasad Barooah—Harvard Business School alumnus and one of Assam’s most celebrated tea pioneers.
Though the iconic banyan tree did not survive the COVID years, its memory continues to define the estate’s identity.
