Woods At Sasan A modern retreat in Sasan Gir, Gujarat, recognised by Regenerative Travel as India's first Regenerative Hotel
(287)

Woods At Sasan is a modern retreat on the edge of the Sasan Gir forest in Gujarat. A biophilic paradise set among 16 acres of mango orchard and lush forest, the retreat offers pioneering holistic healing through a slow, sustainable, nature immersed lifestyle. With a focus on optimising natural energies and harmonising the physical and spiritual selves, Woods at Sasan incorporates the ancient pract

ices of Ayurveda, yoga and meditation and sattvic nutrition, with nature expeditions and experiences into Pathways – curated wellbeing experiences guided by expert practitioners. The 3–5-day Pathways explore life and wellness, nutrition and growth, nature-based expeditions and experiences of the local culture of the land and its people. Guided wildlife safaris to spot the Asiatic lions and the other breath-taking flora and fauna of the region are a popular favourite. The retreat is a blend of pared down and eco-conscious architecture designed to enhance interaction with nature and encourage self-exploration in a tranquil and serene atmosphere. The Stays feature the 3-bedroom Woods Villa with a private plunge pool, the two-tiered Woods Pavilions with rain showers, the charming Woods Studios and Woods Studios with Terrace that offer a phenomenal view of the gardens and forest.

Sacred sites on one side. The forest on the other. In Gir, both exist in quiet rhythm.

Follow the Sacred Saurashtra Experience through Somnath and the landscapes of Gir, a journey through places of devotion, stories, and wilderness. And, as every good journey should, end at Swadesh with an authentic Gujarati farali thali.

Gir Somnath holds stories far beyond the forest.

Stories carved into centuries-old temples, carried by three rivers meeting at Triveni Sangam, and found along the quiet paths of Bhalka Tirth.
A day spent moving through the sacred landscape of Somnath, before returning to the forest at Woods where the journey finds its way to the table, through the flavours and traditions of Gujarat.

Some places are not meant to be hurried through.
They are meant to be felt, slowly.

For the lion, the forest is not a backdrop. It is home.

A landscape of rivers, thorn and teak, where every trail, tree and territory holds a story.

On World Lion Day, we pause to honour the Asiatic Lion and the wild, living landscape that has sheltered it for generations. May we continue to leave enough space for the forest to remain what it has always been: wild, whole and free.

Happy World Lion Day.

Baarish finds Gir differently.

Water finds its way through rock, root and forest. Streams return, the earth softens, and the forest begins to breathe a little deeper.
At Woods, monsoon is best experienced slowly following the sound of water, wandering beneath a greener canopy, and letting the day unfold without a plan.

Some conversations don’t need words.
As the forest settles into evening, so do we.

Our Silent Dinner is an invitation to pause to notice the warmth of a shared meal, the rhythm of nature, the music in the distance, and the quiet presence of those around you.

For a little while, words step aside, making room for something deeper.
Sometimes, the most memorable meals are the ones spoken in silence.

Rain.
Stillness.
The forest, renewed.

This season, step into a slower rhythm.

When the rains come to Gir, the grass returns, and the Maldharis move their herds to meet it. This isn’t a tribe but a pastoralist community: several groups, Bharwad and Rabari among them, who have grazed these forests for generations. Their settlements, called nesses, sit inside the same landscape as Asiatic lions. Coexistence here isn’t a slogan. It’s a route walked every monsoon, shared with the wild.
Come Explore Gir, there is more than meets the eye.

Woods at Sasan welcomes Chef Ambareesh, founder of Nenapu in Bengaluru, for a monsoon residency. Trained at the Oberoi and shaped by kitchens across the country, he arrives with a simple premise: cook only what the season provides. A short residency, an unhurried menu. More to follow.
