Woods At Sasan

Woods At Sasan A modern retreat in Sasan Gir, Gujarat, recognised by Regenerative Travel as India's first Regenerative Hotel
(288)

Woods At Sasan is a modern retreat on the edge of the Sasan Gir forest in Gujarat. A biophilic paradise set among 16 acres of mango orchard and lush forest, the retreat offers pioneering holistic healing through a slow, sustainable, nature immersed lifestyle. With a focus on optimising natural energies and harmonising the physical and spiritual selves, Woods at Sasan incorporates the ancient pract

ices of Ayurveda, yoga and meditation and sattvic nutrition, with nature expeditions and experiences into Pathways – curated wellbeing experiences guided by expert practitioners. The 3–5-day Pathways explore life and wellness, nutrition and growth, nature-based expeditions and experiences of the local culture of the land and its people. Guided wildlife safaris to spot the Asiatic lions and the other breath-taking flora and fauna of the region are a popular favourite. The retreat is a blend of pared down and eco-conscious architecture designed to enhance interaction with nature and encourage self-exploration in a tranquil and serene atmosphere. The Stays feature the 3-bedroom Woods Villa with a private plunge pool, the two-tiered Woods Pavilions with rain showers, the charming Woods Studios and Woods Studios with Terrace that offer a phenomenal view of the gardens and forest.

One dish at a time, the story of Gir unfolds.
At Swadesh, our Gujarati thali is served in a traditional sequence, with each course celebrating the region’s flavours, seasons, and wisdom.
Prepared by Narmada Kaki, our oldest islander who has been with Woods at Sasan since the beginning, the thali draws from generations of local culinary knowledge and ingredients harvested from our edible gardens and food forest.
As Raju Bhai and his folk musicians bring the sounds of Saurashtra to life, every meal becomes more than dining; it becomes a journey into the heart of Gir.
A culinary expression of the region. Rooted in the land, its people, and its stories.

Your body knows this before your mind does.
A slow melody at dawn lowers your cortisol. The right note steadies your heart rate. Sound shifts your breath from shallow to deep without you ever trying. This isn’t mysticism, it’s measurable. Indian classical music has understood frequency therapy for a thousand years. Science is only now catching up.
This is what Som Swar is built on.
Four days in the Gir forest. Fifteen people.
The musicians of the Dhaulpuri Gharana, curated with journalist and musician Abhilasha Ojha.
You’ll wake to a flute outside your door, sit in a baithak under the mango trees, eat one dinner in complete silence and leave with a personal sound practice for your anxiety, grief, focus and rest.
No musical background needed. Only a willingness to listen.

She rests last.

After the house goes quiet.
After the questions are answered.
After everyone else has settled.

She rests last, if at all.

This Mother’s Day, may she have
the morning to herself.
The unhurried cup of tea.
The window with nothing asking anything of it.

The rest she has always given
so easily to everyone else.

This Mother’s Day, Gift her restoration.

Every summer, when the seasonal rivers run dry, the Gir Forest Department steps in, placing waterholes across the landscape, mapped to animal movement, drainage lines, and terrain.

Not random. Not incidental. Intentional.

We have been watching these sites closely this season. And our naturalist team puts it simply, “ The Waterholes are the silent guardian of this jungle. Created by humans. Sustained by the wild.”

In early summer, the orchard becomes the most generous host at Woods.
Over 300 mango trees, along with chikoo, starfruit, rose apple, and Jamun, Rayan, Tamarind, and Gunda ripen slowly under the Gir sun. Each morning, fruits are hand-picked — some prepared for our guests, many left for the birds and wildlife that return to this seasonal feast. Here, the harvest is shared between all our guests: those who check in and those who simply fly in on their wings.

Luxury here means nature eats first.
