A Nepali Thali is a traditional and wholesome meal of Nepal, beautifully served on a large plate with several small portions of different dishes. The heart of the meal is Dal Bhat—steamed rice served with lentil soup. Around it are a variety of flavorful sides such as tarkari (seasonal vegetable curry), achar (spicy pickle), saag (leafy greens), papad, and sometimes curd or meat curry.
What makes a Nepali thali special is its balance of taste and nutrition—spicy, tangy, savory, and fresh flavors all together on one plate. In many homestays in the Himalayas, the vegetables used in the thali are freshly picked from the home kitchen garden, making the meal even more authentic and delicious. 🌿🍚🥗
