*Srinagar, Sept 5:* J&K Awami National Conference has expressed deep sorrow and grave concern over the devastating landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district that has left several Kashmiri labourers from Ganderbal and Bandipora feared dead and many others stranded.
District President Bandipora Ghulam Mohideen and District President Ganderbal, Shabir Ahmad Mir, while expressing grief over the tragic loss of lives, demanded immediate government intervention to evacuate stranded labourers, provide food and shelter to survivors and ensure the swift transportation of the bodies of the deceased back to Kashmir for dignified last rites.
ANC leaders further requested Party President Begum Khalida Shah and Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah to personally intervene in the matter and press upon the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir to take all necessary measures to safeguard the lives of Kashmiri labourers in Himachal Pradesh.
“The families are living in anguish, waiting for news of their loved ones. It is the duty of the government to act without delay. Our labourers cannot be abandoned in such a tragedy,” the statement said.
ANC leaders emphasized that J&K administration must coordinate with the Himachal Pradesh government and national disaster response agencies to intensify rescue and relief operations and to provide compensation and rehabilitation support to the affected families.
“The mortal remains of the deceased must be brought home with honour, and those stranded must be given immediate relief. This is not just a tragedy for the families but a collective wound for all of Kashmir,” ANC leaders added.
