The Ganga enters Haridwar through the Shivalik foothills before the city slowly gathers around it.

Over time, the river has come to be seen mostly through crowds, ceremonies, and ritual, but perhaps the Ganga sees the city differently.

Beyond the main ghats, there are still quieter pockets where life unfolds at a gentler pace. Temple courtyards hidden inside old mohallas, women carrying diyas through narrow lanes at dusk, small shrines glowing softly in the evening, and stretches of the river where people simply sit beside the water without urgency.

These still continue to exist alongside the larger city, revealing another side of Haridwar that the river has likely witnessed all along.

The deck by our private ghat changes beautifully through the day. In the mornings, it feels softer and quieter, with chai, yoga, and the sound of the river moving gently beside you. By evening, lanterns are lit, conversations stretch longer, meals are shared, and the Ganga begins reflecting the last light of the day.

It is also one of the spaces guests return to when they want to mark something personal, a proposal, an anniversary, a celebration, or simply a dinner that feels a little more special than usual.

Other than the beautiful setting, the experience holds a little more.

• Personalised menu cards, flowers, and a candle-lit setup.
• A dedicated server for the entire experience.
• A live musician playing only for your table.

An evening designed to feel intimate, unhurried, and memorable.

• Duration: Approx. 2 hours
• Timings: 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Please inquire at reception for bookings and customisations.

Haridwar carries layers of history, pilgrimage, and everyday life, all moving at once.

The way to understand it is not by rushing through it, but by spending time within it.

Walk through Kankhal and Daksh Mandir, where the city feels older and more lived in, or move through Har ki Pauri as the day builds towards evening. A hike to Chandi Devi, a visit to nearby villages, or even a safari at Rajaji National Park, each offers a different way of seeing the region.

These are not just outings, but ways of discovering stories that have shaped the city over time, experienced at your own pace.

Food has always been one of the simplest ways to understand a place.
In and around Haridwar, meals are shaped as much by people and landscape as they are by recipes.

Pranam.

If this is your first time reading about us, this is simply a small riverside home by the Ganga, built as a family house and later restored with care, keeping much of what was already here. Over time, it has grown into an eight-room space where the focus remains on simple things, fresh meals, a closer connection to the river, and experiencing Haridwar without rush.

For those who have stayed with us before, you already know how the house works, its scale, its pace, and the way days unfold here.
We look forward to welcoming you, again or for the first time.

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” — Ram Dass

Sometimes, it happens without intent. You pick up a book from the library, sit down for a few minutes, and find yourself staying longer than planned. A line holds your attention, not because it is loud, but because it feels familiar.

In that quiet, something begins to settle. Not everything needs to be understood or explained. Some things are simply noticed, and they stay with you long after you’ve put the book back.

Often seen as a temple on a hill reached by cable car, Chandi Devi Temple can be experienced differently.

With Ekat, the journey follows the old pilgrim route—a 45-minute hike that builds gradually, asking you to find your own pace. The reward unfolds at the top: wide views across the city, a darshan at the temple, and a simple picnic laid out in a quieter corner.

A few hours, reimagined—so you can see Haridwar differently.

• Duration: Approx. 2.5 hours
• Timings: Daily | 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
• A private VIP aarti at Har ki Pauri can also be arranged, subject to availability.
• Please inquire at the reception for bookings and assistance.
• Not recommended during peak holiday periods.

Some women shape homes, some shape lives, and some shape generations.

This Mother’s Day, we think of our Badi Dada, Mrs. Pushpawati Khaitan, whose warmth, vision, and quiet strength continue to live on in so many ways at Amrit Bhawan and beyond. To all mothers who nurture not just families, but futures through countless unseen acts of care, this is for you.

Happy Mother’s Day.
