At Shri Bhuvaneshvari Homestay, farming has never been just about putting seeds in the soil. For us, it is about timing, intention, nature’s rhythms, and listening to the land.

This year, we’re excited to share our Biodynamic Seed Sowing Calendar 2026, specially aligned to Indian conditions, climate patterns, and IST timing. Instead of sowing randomly, this calendar helps us choose the right day for root crops, leafy plants, flowers, fruits and grains, based on lunar movement and cosmic rhythms. It also marks rest days, eclipse windows and caution periods, so farming feels more in sync rather than forced.

We use this calendar at our homestay farms for vegetables, herbs, greens and seasonal crops. Guests often ask how we grow healthy plants in a natural way — this calendar is one of the answers. It connects traditional wisdom, Indian Panchang thinking, and biodynamic science into one practical farming tool.

Whether you are a farmer, a home gardener, or simply someone who loves nature, we hope this inspires you to look at seed sowing not as a routine task, but as a living, breathing relationship with time, soil and the universe.

If you ever visit Shri Bhuvaneshvari, you will see this calendar not just as a chart on the wall, but as something we truly follow in the fields.

If you want this calendar, please DM (direct message) your full address with the PIN code, mentioning "SBBD CALENDAR". You need to pay the postage amount for locations outside Mumbai.

Solitude is not being alone; it's alive, and yes, it's with just you, the sights and sounds, and a deep sense of introspection.

Sitting under the creeper-shaded pergola, dappled setting sun and tranquillity overcome me. I was deeply missing the monsoon and its waterfalls. My pond, which features a mini waterfall, compensates for my longing every day!

Music: Mallari is a powerful, rhythmic invocatory piece, originally a nagaswaram (wind instrument) melody played during temple deity processions, symbolising the deity's emergence; dancers adapt this music (often in Raga Nattai or Gambhira Nattai) with rhythmic footwork (sollukattus), symbolising devotees welcoming the Lord, performed at increasing speeds and rhythms to build energy and devotion.

It comes from South Indian temple rituals, where the nagaswaram and tavil play it as the utsava moorthy (processional deity) is taken out, indicating the start of worship.
Meaning: The name "Mallari" suggests "wrestling with the Lord", a symbolic interaction before the deity's procession.

Now you may ask, "Why wrestle with the Lord?" If you know the answer, write it in the comments, and if you want to know why, just DM me "SERENITY", and I will tell you my views on this...

A heart of bees just showed up on our front door. 🐝💛

This isn’t a “hive attack” scene — it’s a honeybee swarm taking a peaceful pit stop while scout bees search for a new home. A travelling swarm can easily be 10,000–20,000 bees (sometimes more)… This basically means that our garden just received the best possible review: “Plenty of flowers here.” 🌼🌿

Pollinators like bees support ~75% of the world’s leading food crops in some way — so when they choose your doorstep, you don’t panic… you feel grateful (and you don’t disturb them). 🙏

Want to see what a truly pollinator-positive place feels like in real life?

🌿 The Divine Birth of Tulasi

Tulasi (also called Vrinda) was born as a manifestation of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. She was born on earth as the daughter of King Dharmadhvaja. From childhood, she was deeply devoted to Lord Vishnu and resolved to marry him.

⚔️ Tulasi and Shankhachuda

In her earthly life, Tulasi married Shankhachuda, a valiant asura (demon) king known for his righteousness and devotion to Vishnu. Protected by the power of her chastity, Shankhachuda became invincible in battle against the gods.

The gods, unable to defeat him, prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. Vishnu disguised himself as Shankhachuda and approached Tulasi. Believing him to be her husband, she lost her chastity, and Shankhachuda was consequently slain in battle.

💔 Tulasi’s Transformation

When Tulasi realised the deception, she was heartbroken. She cursed Vishnu to turn into a Shaligram stone, and in turn, Vishnu blessed her, saying she would be worshipped alongside him forever and that her presence would make every ritual sacred.

Vishnu declared that she would be reborn as the Tulasi plant, and her marriage with him would be celebrated annually as Tulasi Vivah, marking the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the auspicious period for marriages.

🪔 The Ritual of Tulasi Vivah

The ritual is conducted with songs, lamps, and offerings — symbolising the sacred union of devotion and preservation and the marriage of Earth and the Divine.

Tulasi represents green life, purity, and healing — every household’s miniature forest.
Vishnu/Shaligram represents sustenance, order, and preservation.
Their marriage celebrates the eternal cycle of life, renewal, and balance in nature.

At Shri Bhuvaneshvari Homestay, this is celebrated as a small ritual to symbolise this union.

Where do you want to get bored?
Did you know getting bored is one of the ways to fire up your inner creative juices?

Now that the monsoon rains are slowly withdrawing, there are more opportunities to spend your time outdoors. Not actually doing the 'Nature Walks' that we are famous for, but just chilling indoors and yet savouring the glorious sights outside!

Whether you wish to spend time in the garden pergola or you want to chill out on the two huge terraces, it is a feast for the eyes everywhere! Maybe you just want to breathe in doing Pranayama of the clouds that enter your bedroom or maybe sit in the living room library, alternating your gaze on the book and the mountains; everything is possible.

PSST… Karjat’s wildest secret lives inside a mountain. 👀🗿

Hidden in Ambivali, the Tembhare Caves whisper of footsteps long gone—basalt chambers, hand-cut ledges, and soot-kissed ceilings that hint at travellers and monks finding shelter. It’s a short, scenic climb with big rewards: cool air, echoing halls, and a rush of discovery you can feel in your bones. Carry water, wear sturdy shoes, tread lightly—and leave only awe behind. 🌿

Make Shri Bhuvaneshvari Homestay your Karjat basecamp. Wake to valley views, explore the caves by day, and unwind under starry skies by night. Book your stay now—link in bio. ✨

Spot the predator?

Our safari at Jawai Leopard Safari was a lesson in patience and invisibility. Leopards don’t just blend in—they become the landscape. Protect corridors, water, and wild edges so these masters of camouflage can keep our ecosystems in balance.

Keep those jeeps and screaming and blabbering tourists out by limiting them. Fine them heavily if they scream, "Juo juo... Te tyaam ja che" or anything for that matter. 😀

All shots and clicks on my mobile only. No professional equipment here. Sorry for the poor picture quality.
