The wattle is a classic “honest signal.” Red color comes from carotenoids and blood flow, so only a healthy, well-fed bird can maintain a bright, plump wattle. During breeding season the wattles often look more swollen and vivid. Studies on other wattle-bearing birds show females prefer brighter or larger wattles, so it likely helps males attract mates and lets rivals size each other up without fighting.

World Environment Day, celebrated on 5 June, is a global event that encourages people to protect and restore the environment. The 2026 theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” highlights the importance of learning from nature to address climate change and create a sustainable future. Nature provides powerful solutions to environmental challenges. Forests absorb carbon dioxide, wetlands reduce flooding, mangroves protect coastlines, and healthy ecosystems support biodiversity. By conserving and restoring natural habitats, we can strengthen our fight against climate change while improving human well-being. The theme reminds us that our future depends on maintaining a healthy relationship with nature. Individuals can contribute by planting trees, reducing waste, conserving water and energy, and supporting environmentally responsible practices. Governments, industries, and communities must also work together to promote sustainable development and protect natural resources.

17+ years old and a mom of TWO cubs about 6 months old! Meet Kuwani- Super MOM . At an age where most tigresses are resting their paws, she blessed the world with two beautiful cubs. She is probably one of the oldest tigresses on record to give birth, proving that nature always finds a way.
She might be old and fragile, but her strength is legendary. Absolute respect for this Big Mom!

Wings stretched wide like black banners, each primary feather splayed to catch the wind’s whispers. That sharp white throat gleams, a flash of defiance against the void. No earth below, no flock beside it. Just one bird, one moment, carving silence into the heavens. It doesn’t fly. It ascends.

The dhole is a highly social animal that lives and hunts in packs. It plays an important role in maintaining the balance of forest ecosystems by controlling herbivore populations. In India, dholes are found in regions such as the Western Ghats, Central India, and Northeast India. Today, dholes face many threats including habitat loss, declining prey, diseases from domestic dogs, and human conflict. The species is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. World Dhole Day is observed every year on 28 May to raise awareness about the endangered Dhole, also known as the Asiatic wild dog or “whistling dog.” The day highlights the importance of conserving this unique predator and protecting its forest habitat across Asia.
