Having been travellers ourselves we understand that guests require a hospitable, friendly, comfortable and secure place to stay from where it's convenient to get around. Guests from all over the world have booked and enjoyed their stay at Calcutta Cottage since we launched in 2019 as a lot of people understand and have taken to hosting culture.
While we have opened up a part of our home through many online websites, most of our bookings come when the word travels about our homestay and Mums hosting, who has worked for over 35 years in the hospitality sector as Cabin Crew with Air India, before deciding to start a homestay.
I have been in Communications and have managed an Air BnB in Goa for a short period of time, so I created an online presence for our homestay, managed online and put a lot of my ideas and instincts to use over the last few years. My Dad loves to host and truly has the best advice for guests, if asked. The only drawback we observe from hosting, is that not everyone understands it's important to strike the right vibe with their hosts and that while it's a fun, happy, and interesting prospect to experience something like a BnB and a part of someone's home, there is also the dignity of that place that one must keep in mind to truly enjoy that State, that place and the people who are hosting them..
Nevertheless, today when I pull back and see everything from perspective, I see that so many people have enjoyed their stay with us, Mums post retirement project has taken form, Mum & Dad are very comfortable hosting and that we are truly happy to meet a lot of people (those who have stayed here and others) and host them. ~Priyam Duttroy
