Saffron-The 46 cover Indian Specialty Restaurant
The Park Kolkata, the iconic property at Park Street completes its revamp with the completely refurbished Indian restaurant, Saffron. To extend the culinary repertoire of The Park Kolkata, the design team started the process of its revamp with The Street Café and extended it with the unveiling of a spectacular new lobby, reception area and revampe
d luxury premium rooms. As a part of the completely new look, the hotel also introduced a brand new and stylish all hour dining restaurant, The Bridge. At the entrance to the restaurant, the lobby is clad in orange glass, with oil lamps supplying the light. The doors are made from bespoke laminated glass panels containing a scattering of saffron spices. In the main restaurant space, the walls and ceiling are clad in wrapped panels of locally sourced Hessian. Concealed lighting illuminates the two main elevations and the fabric walls while low lighting creates a wonderfully intimate and exclusive ambience. The banquette seating and upholstered chairs express the spectrum of bright and rich colours of the saffron spice. Cascading light features within the roof lights are formed from strings of hand blown glass balls varying in colour and size, representing saffron spice being poured into the space; the deep red seating below representing the intensity of the red spice.
