We are busy planning our menus for the season. As usual they will be focused around seasonal ingredients, what is growing locally (and in our garden!) and how we can bring it all together to create fresh and nourishing recipes.

Our daily set menu is often a mixture of regional recipes from across India and Ladakh, plus a few European favourites woven in for balance and interest. We proudly run a home-style kitchen, where everything is prepared from scratch every day.

It’s not only our guests we’re looking forward to welcoming to Ladakh this year — we’re also excitedly anticipating our migratory, feathered visitors.

With nearly 40 acres of untouched land and the Indus River flowing close by, our grounds become a seasonal nesting haven for many species, including the beautiful blue-throat.

For keen birders, we often arrange early morning guided walks with , whose knowledge of Ladakh’s birdlife is quite simply incredible. And for those who prefer something more leisurely, we have binoculars and bird books on hand — ready for quiet mornings exploring that camp and spotting its inhabitants at your own pace.

After a peaceful winter we are preparing to re-open 🌱

From 23rd April until mid-October we will be welcoming guests back to our riverside haven. A place to settle into unhurried mornings, savour home cooked recipes and ease into the gentle rhythm of life in Ladakh.

Basgo Fort is one of our favourite spots in Ladakh, yet most pass by on the road to Srinagar, without noticing it.

In 1679, when a Tibetan-Mongol army besieged Ladakh, the local king asked the Mughal emperor for help. Along with allies from Kullu, they pushed back the invaders in a battle at Basgo. but had to give much up in return.
