April is officially the summer season in India and Goa. So the temperature will be high. The humidity will be high too. But it’s still good to visit Goa this month, just make sure that you avoid direct sunlight exposure when the sun is at its hottest. The average highs are about the same as March,...

GOA IN JULY

In July the monsoon season in Goa is at full throttle. Generally, July is very similar to June and the first half of August: rains, high humidity, attractive prices for accommodation units and food, affordable luxury, quietness and placidity
The statistics shows an entire predominance of rainy days: in July we have about 27 rainy days with many rainfalls. The sun appears from behind the clouds rarely and for a short time; the air is hot (about + 28-35°C) and is saturated with moisture. The sea water is also warm but is not suitable for swimming as the waves are very high and the sea is roughing nearly all the time. However, you should take with you to Goa sunscreeners and summer clothing that will protect you from strong ultraviolet radiation and humidity.
The lovers of beach holidays and parties in the open air can be disappointed. Probably, there would be a chance to swim in tender sea waters and enjoy sunbathing as often it’s not raining all the day but, however, don’t expect to spend your holidays at the beach. Same as in June, the beach infrastructure even in large famous resorts is limited, and in some places is almost completely absent.
Though, it doesn’t mean that there are any reasons not to visit Goa in July. If you organize your vocations carefully, choice the right variant of accommodation and think well about the possible tour itinerary around Goa, you can have good chances to turn a usual holiday into the really unforgettable and amazing journey. By the way, in summer there is a large selection of various accommodation units, so even the low-budget tourists can afford themselves high class housing at quite democratic prices.
You should also remember that Goa is a completely different world. This is a tropical state with a very beautiful nature, magnificent and rich greenery everywhere, unexplored new culture and huge variety of historical monuments. Here you can feel yourself in a real unity with nature, and take care about your health and spiritual harmony. Many people are coming to Goa during summer for this reason. Goa has several good Auverda clinics. Many resorts offer their guests to take different yoga courses and to participate in a group meditation.
What else can you do in Goa? If you like sport than you should make a journey on foot to the waterfalls (the most famous one is Dude Sagar) or try rafting on the river Mhadei. Those who are interested in cultures and history of different countries of the world can visit the Old Goa, Hampi, Hindu temples of Pond and Old Portuguese fortress. And those who are fond of shopping are welcomed in shops and boutiques of Panaji (Panjim) – the capital of Goa.

GOA IN JUNE

Goa in June is an amazingly beautiful place with plenty of rains, emerald-green rice fields, green hills, high trees dancing to the music of the wind and deserted beaches. This is a perfect place for romantic people and those who prefer to spend their vocations in peace, silence and unity with nature.
It would be an exaggeration to say that the tropical rains are pelting without a break and the sun is completely hidden behind the clouds. According to statistics, on the average there are only 13 rainy days in a month and the sun is shining for about 5 hours a day. However, you shouldn’t expect an equal distribution of sunny and rainy periods. Sometimes the rains are steady, and sometimes they are intermittent.
The day temperature is usually about 36-38°C, and at night the temperature falls up to 25-28°C. The only one examination that can be quite difficult for people from another climatic region is too high air humidity (over 85%) and reaching its maximum 11+ index solar UV emission.
The sea is warm (about 29°C) but the water is muddy, stormy and pecky, so it is better not to try your luck and stay away from it. In June only the most experienced fishermen risk to put out to sea, though they do this quite carefully and extremely rare.

What else can you in Goa in June?

The beach holiday is a better variant for seasons when heavy rains are changed to sunny days. The sandy beaches during this season are deserted and empty, clean and perfect for long walks on the background of roaring ocean or for quiet holiday somewhere in an ivy bush. Swimming and water sports are not practiced during this period of the year.
Goa in June is a quiet safe place for those who are looking for a break from the concrete jungles and urban vanity. The beauty of the nature captivates and soothes. You can spend your time sitting on a terrace, yielding to laziness and enjoying the rainy day alone or in the group of significant others. Or you can take a gourmet tour around the restaurants or visit some spice plantations where you’ll be offered to try dishes from the local exotic cuisine.
Many nerds of Eastern and Asian medicine, Ayurveda, yoga and meditations prefer to spend their holidays in Goa during the monsoon season because of the quietness and thinly populated places. For the same reason the newly married couples choose Goa in June for wedding ceremonies and honeymoons.
June in Goa offers the tourists a great variety of options for active tourism: you can visit different nature reserves, numerous places of interesting and sightseeing attractions, try rafting on the river Mandovi, take excursions to waterfalls or participate in festivals.
Some of the most beautiful Catholic festivals and holidays are held in Goa during June: St. Anthony’s Day (13 th of June) when the faithful lower the figure of the Saint into the well waiting for the rains to fill their water reserves; Sao Joao Day/St. John’s Day (24 th of June) when the peasants organize a jolly holiday and jump into the wells; Saints Peter and Paul Day (29 th of June) – the fishermen holiday during which fishermen tie their boats together and organize theatrical performances with songs and dances on them.
For accommodation it is recommended to choose a good housing with air conditioning, hot water and opportunity to organize meal yourself as the tourist infrastructure on the beaches during this period of the year is almost absent. The most comfortable areas for beach holiday in June are Baga and Candolim in the north, and Colva and Cavelossim in the south where you can find plenty of shops, restaurants with Indian and European cuisines, tourist complexes with all required services, ayurveda clinics, banks and other necessary things you may need during your vocations.
In June, as well as during the whole monsoon season, the prices for accommodation units, tourism services, airline tickets and transportation are usually lower than in the peak season.

TAXI FROM DABOLIM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Dabolim International Airport is connected to the rest of the state with all forms of transport, but the most preferred and recommended for tourists is the state pre-paid taxi. The safety of the service is undeniable, and also it delivers to local rules and avoids people from having to bargain or having doubts about the price.
The ticket office of the public taxis is 10 meters to the left from the exit of the airport. There is the price list, that shows the distance and rates of daily travel to most of the beaches of Goa.
The rates vary depending on the availability of air conditioning in the car. “A/C” in the price means the car with air-conditioning and “NON A/C” means the car without air-conditioning. For example, the distance from Dabolim to Benaulim is 27 km and travel costs 648 rupees in the air-conditioned car, and 567 rupees in the non-air-conditioned one. The prices are per car, not per passenger. From 23:00 to 5:00 it runs the night tariff which consists of the daily rate increased by 35%. An additional payment per piece of luggage is 10 rupees.
You decide whether you need air-conditioning or not, and pay the required tariff to the cashier. You will be given the receipt, which you pass then to the taxi driver.
The state taxi service accepts only rupees and cash, so you need to stock up in advance at least with a small amount of cash. If you don’t have rupees, you can exchange money at the airport. The conversion here is usually very bad, so it is recommended to exchange only small amounts. Another option is to apply personally to someone in the parking lot of the taxi drivers and agree to pay on arrival, having a stop nearby an exchange. Some drivers also take dollars for payment.
The public service pre-paid taxis are like normal cars and minivans that can set up to 6 people with their luggage. The drivers speak English.
