Wild Tuesday Time

Meet one of the Western Ghats’ most spectacular amphibians... the Malabar Gliding Frog (Rhacophorus malabaricus).

Despite its name, it doesn’t actually fly. Instead, it spreads its large webbed feet and gracefully glides between trees, making it one of nature’s most remarkable rainforest acrobats.

Found only in the Western Ghats, this vibrant frog comes alive during the monsoon, when the forests echo with the chorus of countless amphibians. If you’re lucky, you might spot one during a night walk around Shola Crown.

Every Wild Tuesday reminds us that the forests surrounding Shola Crown are more than beautiful landscapes. They’re home to extraordinary life waiting to be discovered.

🐦 Wild Tuesday Time!

Ever seen a bird walk upside down?

Meet the Velvet-fronted Nuthatch — a tiny acrobat of the Western Ghats. With its slate-blue feathers, crimson bill, and remarkable ability to climb headfirst down tree trunks, this little forest explorer spends its days searching bark and moss for hidden insects.

Unlike most birds, the nuthatch isn’t afraid of gravity. It treats tree trunks like a playground.

Afternoons at Shola Crown have a way of slowing time down.
