Ancient dolmens and rock paintings in marayoor date back to the Stone Age.Marayoor claims to be part of a Stone Age civilization that is old as 10,000 BC.People migrated from Tamilnadu to this area when the Madurai King Thirumalainaicker was defeated by Tippu Sulthan,in the eighteenth century.The migrants created five villages,being Kanthalloor,Keezhanthur,Karayur,Marayoor and Kottakudi.These five villages were called the "Anjunadu",literally meaning "five lands". Kanthlloor village is nestled in the Westwern Ghats of India.The salubrious climate and the picturesque landscapes and wide variety of tropical crops coupled with the close proximity of Munnar,has transformed this village into a tourist destination. Kanthalloor is famous for its wide variety of crops which is not seen on the other parts of Kerala, which includes varieties of Apple, Orange,Stawberry,Blackberry,Plums,Gooseberry,Quince,EggFruits, Peach and Passion Fruits..Etc.
