Wonder which one of these "addas" Iftehkar Hasan is referring to in his review, there are so many of them at Mangala. :-)
"A wonderfully restored heritage home. This lovely place has been painstakingly rejuvenated with the old world charm that the entire neighbourhood reeks of. We had fresh and delicious Tamil lunch here and carried on for an adda session for several hours afterwards. The place just called for it. Warm and cozy it demands that you let all your worries and cares off and slowly unwind into the quintessential Indian rural experience. Must visit."
So, when are are you planning for your adda session at Mangala with your dear ones? :-)

My son who has never been to an Indian Village played with their kids who taught him how to spin a top[Pambaram] , went to the paddy fields, took bath in pump-set, rode a bullock cart, village walking tour meeting locals, temple tour, elephant interaction, pottery visit and hands on pottery, so much more. Have you experienced Mangala Heritage Retreat as yet? Read what Saskia Kersenboom has to say about hers.
'Kersenboom waxes eloquent of the warm, golden colours of the walls, the brick floors, dark brown wooden pillars and ceilings.
“Every detail in this serene, traditional South Indian house speaks of beauty and care. The lamps that are lit every evening — outside on the terrace, decorative lamps inside, lamps in the star-lit garden and small ones flickering in the guestrooms.”'

The Ramayana has stood the test of time because it celebrates the victory of good over evil while upholding the values of love, brotherhood, loyalty and righteousness. Rama walked the sands of Tamil Nadu on his way to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita and we follow him on his attempts to cross the ocean to Lanka before selecting Rameswaram as the point of crossover.
The tour has been curated by Ms. Padmapriya Baskaran for Mangala Heritage Retreat as part of our Weekends at Mangala experiences. To book a seat call 9940458435.

Our guests enjoy the Mangala experience. For some it is the rural ambience, for some it is the simplicity and the slow pace of life, some love the range of unique local experiences on offer, while some love the nostalgic feeling of a bygone era. Everyone loves the food! :-) This is what Ms. Narayani Harigovindan had to say about her recent stay with us.
"Mangala was a special experience and I loved the rustic feel to the place and all the attention to detail and the little touches given to maintain that rusticity. Arun and Mary (Meiji) are exquisite hosts and I must say that Mary is a treasure.
We also greatly enjoyed looking at the restored murals in the Tiruvarur temple and Tranquebar was quite a discovery !!."
