Personal message for Pusaites-
"Where you come from does not define where you can go. Dare to dream big. Do not fear failure. It is not the opinion of others that will pay your bills so stay on the path of your vision unless you decide to deviate. Even then, stick to your choices with conviction and courage! And never forget to look for a silver lining in any dark cloud you encompass!"

Souniya Khurana

Souniya is probably the only alumna of IIM Ahmedabad who failed in 6th grade twice (with a new name the second time) and has had quite a love hate relationship with failure ever since. With a background in hospitality from batch 2010 and a stint with Taj Hotels, client services and customer experience has become her second nature. Her journey of over a decade with exposure Into understanding the customer first, helped her seamlessly move between Business Development and Strategic roles with some of the stalwarts including NDTV,IWG PIC (formerly Regus) and Stern Advisory Group UK. She went on to kick-start her first entrepreneurial stint Karigar Konnect in 2016, but failed at it, not only because it was a little ahead of its time , but also because without a strong mentor and ecosystem, sustenance became a challenge. Thus sensing this lacuna, where most start-up founders lack the right ecosystem to propel them forward in their journey of growth and as a community enthusiast, she co-founded India Network, to nurture the entrepreneurial talent in tier 2/ 3/ 4 cities of India, driving activities on the ground, engaging with multiple stakeholders.

Of all the engagements, what she fell in love with most, were the stories. The stories of creation, passion and innovation and a lot more that goes into the spirit that drives each entrepreneur and creator. Yet we have just a few handful Unicorns? Which made her wonder, what really holds clout, the Product or the Narrative ? Or can one really work without the other? This gave birth to her media venture WYN Studio which helps enable brands and businesses to build a strong narrative using voice and audio. She has produced podcasts that have gone on to win multiple awards and widespread recognition with 2 Million+ listeners across 161 Countries and over 200 cities in India. Something one often finds the persevering leader asking is “What’s Your Narrative?” or rather “Kahaani Kya Hai?”

Message for PUSAites:- Something that I’ve learnt over more than a decade of working across brands and businesses is there is a reason why Superheroes wear a CAPE!

They are CONSISTENT
They are AUTHENTIC
They are PURPOSE DRIVEN & PASSIONATE
They are EMPATHETIC

And that’s how I define CAPE and wear it everyday to continue growing and succeeding in everything I do. My advice to all my fellow PUSAites is to wear a CAPE!!

Neeta Iyer

Neeta is an alumna of , batch 2003. At every step in life she has been in a dilemma, ‘confusion’ being her middle name. After dissecting rodents in the Bio lab at school, Neeta gave up on her ambition of using the stethoscope and instead experimented with her ability to selflessly serve passengers as a cabin crew. Unfortunately, before the airline operator she was associated with, could call it a day, Neeta realised that she suffered from air sickness.

Thereafter, an article in the newspaper about the voicing industry inspired Neeta to try her luck here as well. She participated in the Radio Mirchi RJ Hunt, won it and then started her glorious, most exciting journey with radio. She has been a prime time jock in Delhi for leading radio stations in India and after many years as a Radio Jockey, she awakened to her hidden potential as a writer ! Her debut novel, Find_Love.com was published by Jaico and received very encouraging reviews.
She has dabbled with podcasting too and recently her debut film also saw the light of the day on Amazon Prime US and UK and on MX Player in India. Clearly, she is here to do the maximum possible experiments in the laboratory , called ‘life’ !

Message for Pusaites – “Follow your heart. Don’t question it. That’s your truth and that will liberate you. The society discourages us from listening to our own inner voice because let’s face it, if you function, as guided by the heart, you will begin to stand out. You will look and be different and that will make many around you uncomfortable, because they have numbed their hearts and are governed by logic at all times. Wishing all the PIHMAA members all the very best and may you become truly truly happy. That’s what matters, success will follow ‘’

Sarika Gupta Kapoor

Sarika, pass out of , batch 2003 grew up as a simple middle class girl.

After passing out, Sarika was offered a job at the Oberoi Rajvilas, but she soon left, as she missed her family. She then decided to begin her career at Daksh E-services, a call centre. However, her dream was to join Airlines as cabin crew, and she continued giving interviews alongside.

Sarika eventually joined Air India as cabin crew for International Sectors and moved to Bombay. Unfortunately she had to leave and return to Delhi to support her family after her father’s demise. With no regret of leaving her dream job, Sarika joined the Air Hostess Academy as a Trainer and Coordinator, helping fulfill the dreams of young men and women. She then moved to Nirulas as Assistant Training Manager. Sarika then took up the challenge of joining HDFC Bank as a Training Manager in their Phone Banking unit. Yet again, she made the tough decision of leaving a promising and exciting new job - to raise her son.

Switching multiple jobs and working continuously for many years made it difficult for Sarika to stay confined at home. So, she decided to start her own business in order to devote time to her family and stay independent at the same time. Being financially independent is the biggest strength of a woman.

Today, Sarika manages 3 businesses with her husband and IHM batchmate, Mohit Kapoor : Commercial leasing, E-commerce and Travel (with MakeMyTrip).

Dear Pusaites,
There's no harm in prioritising one's family and getting emotional. You can still be successful if you are ready to adapt and move forward. Look for opportunities around you and experiment. Life is an ever learning process, learn from those around you. I truly believe that our parents and teachers are the true contributors of all we achieve in our life. Life is a roller coaster ride, enjoy it. Always be a strong woman, a stronger mother, a supportive wife and most importantly a caring daughter. Do what makes you happy and keep yourself motivated!

Nupur Sood

Nupur is the Director of Epic India Group, Marketing Advisor WICCI, Consultant Entrepreneur of Corporate Events, Communication, Marketing, Advertising, and Exploring. A Hospitality graduate from 2003 batch, which was the first batch to get a BSc. degree and not a diploma!! She started her career with a short 8 months’ stint with Daksh (a BPO) and Welcom Group’s Sales & Marketing but realized that her heart lies in taking the entrepreneurial route. It wasn’t the era of start-ups back then but definitely an era of MNC culture flourishing leaps & bounds in India. So, a journey began 17 years ago with two committed individuals- Nupur Sood & her now husband Pankaj Malhotra.
With a few resources, infinite dreams, and having learned the basics from the trade of Hospitality, Sales & Marketing, Client Servicing, they ventured into the business of corporate ‘Tours & Travels’.
With Rs 7000 each in their hands, “The Organizers” came into being with an aim to deliver travel solutions to the corporate sector. Five years and some lit ideas later, they realized their calling to be much larger.
From events, product launches, conferences to global offsites, we set motion to do it all, and then life became EPIC!

She, as a woman in trade, had her own challenges. It took time for her vendors and partners, and often male team members to brainstorm & work with a woman. However, she often found them comfortable dealing with her husband. She used to get frustrated & tried to play the masculine side to only realize “Lady – You are not a man” (a great book & read as well). Slowly, She got back to her feminine side & understood that she need to be true to herself. With time, support from Pankaj & some experience, she was a strong pillar of the ecosystem.

With the era of creativity setting in events and big players in the trade like Wizcraft, WPP & Encompass swamping the market, came the need for adaptability. Thus, Epic India Events was born, to blend experiences with creativity and design. They started designing pre-set models, creative collaterals, engagement ideas and slowly, they evolved into a full-fledged creative agency. During this time, she will not deny it, she purposely made sure she has a more feminine side added to the team.
With dedicated MICE and Communication wings in place, they got selected to manage the first-ever SABRE Awards South Asia (a property of Holmes report, London) held in India. The year was 2013, and since then we have been PRCAI’s trusted partner in executing SABRE awards each year. As we expanded, our clientele expanded, and from IT & BPO, Consulting to FMCG & Pharma, we started getting esteemed projects such as ICCO Global Summit, Sports Leagues, Government Campaigns, and even more.

With the help of our zealous team, they further evolved into a media and content production house. Today they have a diverse team of 50% women & the LGBTQ+ onboard. They as an agency today have an all-inclusive work environment defying odds of pay gap & break in career. It has an independent wing known as Epic CAMP – Communication, Advertising, Marketing, Production.

From minimalist designs to the big-bang events, They failed at times, They learned always & They met success often.

It was our time to contribute to society, with the support of industry veterans & our network we became part of Embrace Music Festival – An all-inclusive Fest. Also, we were proud partners for Rainbow Literature Festival.

She saw eye to eye with global organizations. From helping brands, They became their own brand. Life at Epic has always been a roller coaster & so life would have you believe, it was time to hit the low. 2020 hit the world hard with the Covid-19 pandemic & especially our industry was affected.

Things could have been worse for Epic as it were for various MICE agencies had it not started evolving alongside being a 360-degree digital marketing and advertising agency. So, we continued to sail slowly in 2020.

Making TV commercials, doing B2C marketing for brands, hosting virtual events, and learning more each passing day with our digital experience. Not only this but they were approached & noticed by the big government names as well. MNRE and DRDO got added to our huge list of clientele. Now, having adapted to the world of digital & experiential, we are sailing to explore more geographies, offering operations & services from the most adaptable & dynamic team at Epic India.

Her advice to IHM PUSA alma mater professionals would be –
· Help each other when the industry is seeing a challenging time for jobs, new avenues, and opportunities
· Listen to your gut – it has a conscious level (not your heart & not your brain)
· Be humble always – how often do you want to award work/project to a pompous individual
· Be vulnerable at times – while it may sound negative but it often leads to teamwork, opens us for growth & empathy
· Trust more – Be it your junior, senior, colleague, or client
· Right Networking – It helps you learn, at times guide, creates partnerships, uplift social causes, and develops business avenues. While you are at it, discuss ideas not people.
· Last but not the least - innovations soon turn into invoices
