Historically, Wayanad has been a significant center for Jainism, with migrations from Karnataka during the Hoysala Dynasty period contributing to its prominence.  The temple is part of the Wayanad Jain Circuit, an initiative by the District Tourism Promotion Council to connect 12 Jain centers in the district, aiming to introduce visitors to the culture and beliefs of the Jain community in the area.  The Panamaram Jain Temple is among the notable sites included in this circuit, reflecting the enduring legacy of Jainism in Wayanad.
