Tulsi Vivah Celebrated at Aaicho Wado

Tulsi Vivah is a beautiful and symbolic Hindu festival that celebrates the ceremonial marriage of Tulsi (the holy basil plant, considered an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi) with Lord Vishnu, usually in the form of Shaligram (a sacred black stone representing Vishnu).

It marks the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the Hindu wedding season.

βΈ»

🌿 Date & Timing
β€’ When: Tulsi Vivah is celebrated on the Ekadashi (11th day) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Kartik β€” usually October–November.
β€’ 2025 Date: Likely November 2, 2025 (Sunday) (Kartik Shukla Ekadashi) β€” will confirm closer to the date as it depends on the lunar calendar.

βΈ»

🌸 Spiritual Significance
β€’ The festival symbolizes the union of the divine feminine (Lakshmi/Tulsi) and divine masculine (Vishnu) energies.
β€’ It also marks the end of Chaturmas β€” a four-month period when auspicious ceremonies like weddings are avoided.
β€’ Tulsi is believed to bless the home with prosperity, harmony, and spiritual purity after this ritual.

πŸͺ” Rituals and Traditions
1. Preparation of Tulsi Vrindavan (altar):
β€’ The Tulsi plant is cleaned, decorated with saree, ornaments, and flowers like a bride.
β€’ A small Shaligram or Vishnu idol is placed nearby, decorated as the groom.
2. Mandap & Marriage Ritual:
β€’ A mandap (marriage pavilion) is made using sugarcane, banana leaves, and marigolds.
β€’ Traditional wedding rituals are followed β€” kanyadaan (giving away the bride), mangalashtak (sacred verses), and tying of the knot.
3. Offerings & Prasad:
β€’ Offerings of sweets, fruits, and especially sugarcane and jaggery are made.
β€’ Prasad (holy food) is distributed to family and guests.
4. Songs & Bhajans:
β€’ Devotional songs are sung in praise of Tulsi Devi and Vishnu.
β€’ Women often fast on this day for the well-being of their family.
