XANT VILLA has many stories to tell. Today, it's about the tree ( the first one in the picture) that was obstructing our work but we didn't want to chop down. When we realized that our compound wall was getting in between the mighty roots of this junglee tree, we also realized that the tree was here before us. Since the tree couldn't speak, we simply assumed that it wanted to live.

Solution: we made a lintel inside the compound wall ( as pointed by the red arrow) and allowed the roots - they don't understand boundaries - to find their own path. So the visible wedge in that compound wall is a result of that.

However, there was another big tree standing in the middle of the plot that had to go, but as social responsibility towards the planet, we planted 30 trees in the vicinity, so as to accommodate all the birds and organism we had displaced.

'शांत विला' 'XANT VILLA' or simply 'शांत' 'XANT' is a modern, climate-sensitive villa that connects through design, homely comforts to the freshness of the outside world . The ecologically conscious abode has used insulated roofing, up-cycled vintage furniture, salvaged wood and a groundwater-friendly sewage system, while at the same time not compromised on aesthetics; in fact, it displays spectacular, clutter-free and minimalist elegance throughout it's area.

The heat-absorbing roofing sheets, the thick granite slabs for flooring, the enclosed garden within the private spaces and the lush forest of 'Salvador do Mundo' across the road induces a cooling effect for the body, and a calming one for the soul.

Hence 'XANT'.
