Some stories begin with a simple act of planting a tree.

In the early 1930s, Mr Tripathi’s father believed that land was not just something to own, but something to care for. A farmer by profession, he carried this belief into everything he did, standing up for both the land and the people who depended on it.

Decades later, that belief lives on at Aahana.
The trees Mr Tripathi & his family planted have grown into a forest. The bare land he cared for is now home to over 4,500 trees, 200 species of birds and countless smaller lives.

Somewhere between the roots and the branches, his legacy continues to grow.

Every tree has a story. This is ours.

A little family has made itself at home in the trees around our Forest Villas.

We first noticed the mother and her two owlets in July. At first, they would disappear into the leaves whenever we came near, watching us from a safe distance.

Slowly, they began to stay a little longer. The owlets would sit close together, looking back at me as curiously as I looked at them.

One evening, I accidentally disturbed their dinner. The mother began calling out - a soft, almost barking sound rather than the hoot I had expected. A gentle reminder to keep my distance.

I think they may have become used to me now. Or perhaps they are simply keeping an eye on me, just as I do on them.

At Aahana, some of our neighbours have wings, feathers and a very different idea of when the day begins. And we’re happy to share the forest with them.

Some things just make sense.

Planting trees where there was once barren land.
Reusing water instead of wasting it.
Keeping our pool free of chlorine.
Living alongside the wildlife that was here before us.
And giving people from around us a place to grow with us.

Because being in the forest comes with a responsibility to care for the forest, its people and everything that calls it home.
