Apples heavy on the branch, a dog who’s claimed his favourite corner of the wall, and the path that leads home. There’s a particular kind of quiet that settles over the orchard in August — apples ripening overhead, marigolds and nasturtiums spilling over the stone walls, and our dog keeping watch from his usual perch.
Guests often tell us the same thing: they came for the mountains, but it’s mornings like this — walking the garden path with a cup of chai, apples within arm’s reach — that they remember most.
That’s the flavour of staying at Deodar Cottage. Not a checklist of sights, just time that moves a little slower.
