Guess who came first in the female category?
She not only completed the Anti- plastic run but also chased the rhesus monkeys, butt sniffed the gaddi dogs she met on the way, peed against a deodar tree, sniffed all the lampposts. And yet came first in the female category, giving some men a serious run for their money.

Have Plantation Drives Really Helped Restore Our Forests? Or are they mere photo ops?

For Khoblu Dialogues – Episode 3, we welcome Dr. Vaneet Jishtu, Biodiversity Consultant, Subject Matter Specialist and Scientist (Retd.) from ICFRE–HFRI, Shimla.

With over three decades of work across the Himalaya, Vaneet has worked extensively on biodiversity, forest genetic resources, medicinal plants, climate change and ecological surveys. He also contributed significantly to the Western Himalayan Temperate Arboretum in Shimla, a novel initiative for the conservation of Western Himalayan native flora.

We discuss tree plantations, native species, forest restoration and what actually works.

Khoblu Dialogues is a conversation series from Cafe Khoblu, Shimla, bringing together knowledgeable guests and a live audience for open, thoughtful discussions on issues that matter.

It was Dishant Negi, from Kinnaur , who won the MeenaBagh anti- plastic marathon , completing approx 9 kms in 43 minutes.

This natural athelete and high altitude farmer, has been running 10 kms everyday consecutively since over 230 days.

MeenaBagh Anti-Plastic Marathon was flagged of today with participation from not only young runners from different villages, but local farmers, some of them almost 60 years old (and of course also Beswa 🐕)

Khoblu Dialogues Episode 3 will be special . It will not be in Cafe Khoblu in Shimla , but among the locals in Ratnari village at MeenaBaghRatnari.
The topic will be plastic pollution for which we are inviting Ms Aruna Verma of Sri Chetna. Ms Verma has over the years gone from village to village and door to door educating people in rural areas about how to manage plastic and take care of the environment.
Dialogue with her will be at 10:30 am 19th August.
But before that to involve local youth we are organising an anti-plastic marathon for which the reporting time is 7:30 am :
