I thought I saw one once in Gurgaon during the winters and here this one was at 3900 m. Stories of migration are most often limited to the Greylag and the Barheaded geese that fly over the Himalayan ranges to grace us with their presence. While size and a foreign passport never fail to enamour us there are several small birds that travel great distances too.
How they adapt to the change in altitude and environment including predators that are few at this height in contrast to the plains is a thought that has always filled me with wonder.
is an ideal place to be for those interested in birding. Far removed from the ‘madding crowd’ this quiet little village with a river below and a short drive to desolate meadows one of which has a huge watering hole is the perfect place to be.
