Our first participants
The greatest motoring adventure on the planet
In2001 Mr Tom & Mr Joolz found themselves staring in awe at their slightly dishevelled Fiat126 wondering what to do with it.After not very long they came up with the only sensible plan-to drive to the most ridiculous place they could think of.Mongolia was chosen, being 10000miles away as the drunk crow flies and sporting a fine selection of the world's worst roads it seemed perfect. So with no changes of clothes,a packet of cheap ci**rs & a hunting knife, they set forth.Although they didn't quite reach Mongolia because of visa & border trouble they enjoyed themselves so much that they swore to return & try again. From this premise the great Mongol Rally was born
Rule1.You can only take a farcically small vehicle of 1litre or less.
You need to drive a small,sh*t car to make the rally tougher. It's no fun if it's too easy.If you want easy go for a spa weekend. If you want to make it harder, take a small bike. With a small car or bike, you're more likely to break down so you're more likely to interact with the locals, more likely to get stuck and more likely to have an adventure. The worse the car the greater the adventure.
Rule2:You're on your own:We could tell you everything you need to know about all the countries, roads and borders between here and Russia to ensure you have a safe, uncomplicated journey. But if it's not dangerous and you aren't lost, you're not on an adventure. That means no backup or support. If you get stuck or in trouble, you need to solve the problem yourself.Any‘Help! We’re broken down in Tajikistan,’type phone calls to Rally HQ will be met with a snort of derision and a click of the receiver.
Rule3:Raise£1000 for charity
The Warning
These are genuinely dangerous things to do.Your chances of being seriously injured or dying as a result of taking part are high.it's an unsupported adventure and so by its very nature extremely risky. You really are on your own and you really are putting both your health and life at risk. This is what makes them adventures.

"Korsi"
A korsi or korsí (Persian spelling: کرسی) is a type of low table found in Iran, with a heater underneath it, and blankets thrown over it. It is a traditional item of furniture in Iranian culture. A family or other gathering sits on the floor around the korsi during meals and special events, like Nowruz (Persian/Zoroastrian New Year's Eve). A korsi used to be quite popular for entire families to gather together during yearly Yaldā celebrations.

How to hitchhike out of Isfahan?
There are 4 main directions.

-North toward Kashan, Qom, Tehran:

Try to get to Shohada square (فلکه شهدا), from there walk toward north and you will see Baboldasht (بابلدشت) bus terminal at your right in a few minutes. Find buses heading to Shahin Shahr (شاهین شهر). The bus card you need for this one is different from the ones you use inside the city, so you can buy a Shahin Shahr card or just pay cash for the ride (maybe 2000 toman). You can get off the bus as it enters the highway or first station in the city entrance (but you'll need to walk a bit). From there, you can start hitchhiking.

-South toward Shiraz:

There's a bus line 34 that goes from north to south of the city: in a straight line from Independence square (people call it Darvaze Tehran) (دروازه تهران = میدان استقلال) to Artesh square, then it turns left to Azadi square (we call it Darvaze Shiraz) (دروازه شیراز = میدان آزادی) and, finally, Soffeh bus terminal (HMQ9+5J=ترمینال صفه). You should get off in front of the terminal (one stop before the last) and walk toward south, you will see a bridge. You can start hitchhiking underneath it. Tip: don't start hitchhiking in front of the terminal, as there are many people standing there who want to get a taxi.

-East toward Varzaneh, Nain, Yazd:

Bus number 28 passes all the way from west to east of the city, on the upper street of the river. So you can get on it anywhere near the the Zayanderud river. It heads to Jeyshir (جی شیر). You get off as the bus enters Jey street (جی) and start hitchhiking.

-West towards Lorestan, Khorramabad:

You need to get near Najafabad (نجف آباد) first. For this you have 3 options:

1. Get to Mosadeq intersection (32.655025, 51.652812=
, get a shared taxi to Najafabad, around 3000 toman.
2. Go to Samadiye (MJ8V+QQ=صمدیه) bus terminal and get a bus or minibus to Najafabad (around 2000 toman).
3. Go to Takhti crossing (چهارراه تختی) and get a bus/minibus (I'm not sure if this is still available).

The road is straight till the entrance but then your vehicle will turn right to enter the city (the main street of city for entrance is one-way so that they can avoid traffic). You can get off there (32.631391, 51.391721=azadegan sq)
and hitchhike north to Daneshju square (32.654400, 51.393837=میدان دانشجو). And from there hitchhike to your final destination.
