When we first walked through those rusty gates, we knew this historic property had a story to tell. From the original vaulted ceilings in the old barn (where generations made their tomato sauce) to the patterned lounge floors we fell in love with on day one—we knew we had found the right house.

It took 2 years of hard work, grit, and a lot of passion, but the transformation is what we dreamed about. What was once a cluttered barn is now a luxury holiday escape in the heart of Italy’s wine country.

It really was demoralising, looking at house after house with agents that were so off the mark with our brief. On a chance trip to Asti we looked in engel voelkers window and saw a house that caught our eye.

Who knew what was just around the corner in 2020……
