Here’s an interesting fact: Equinoxes are the only two times each year that the Sun rises due east and sets due west for all of us on Earth and the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world.

Traditionally, the equinox was celebrated as a time to cleanse out stagnant energy within the self and homes. Hence, this day is the representation of new life and light, new beginnings, path, and seeds.

Buon equinozio di primavera a tutti!☀️ Non vediamo l'ora di ospitarvi qui ad Alghero! La stagione è ufficialmente iniziata e, da Heidi, abbiamo scelto questo giorno per prepararci e aprire le nostre porte... Perché?

Ecco un fatto interessante: gli equinozi sono le uniche due volte, durante l’arco di un intero anno, in cui il Sole sorge a est e tramonta a ovest e la durata del giorno e della notte è quasi uguale in tutte le parti del mondo.

Tradizionalmente, l'equinozio veniva celebrato come un momento per ripulire l'energia stagnante all'interno del sé e delle case. Ragion per cui questo giorno è la rappresentazione di nuova vita e luce, rinascita e nuovi inizi! 🦋

At the end of Maria Pia beach, for a coastal stretch of about 200 meters, there is a very interesting fossil beach with many shells that belonged to many different species of molluscs.

Around 125,000,000 years ago the sea level was about 5 meters above the current one, and in the Gulf of Alghero the coast line was significantly displaced inland. The current Maria Pia and the Calich lagoon were a seabed. It is still possible today to see the marks left by this ancient sea level on the rocks of Capo Caccia and Punta Giglio!! Oh our beautiful Alghero ❣️
