Ad Arona, alle porte del Lago Maggiore nel centro storico della città c'è Palazzo Usellini, un'antica dimora Storica borghese del 1700. Juan Carlos Usellini ha restaurato le antiche rimesse per cavalli e carrozze per farne
l'abitazione della sua famiglia. Un grande cortile dove si affacciano tre fabbricati distinti, il Palazzo vero e proprio con un portico con colonne in Granito Rosa di Baveno che
sorregge un ampio terrazzo, la Casa delle feste che fa da sfondo al giardino all'italiana e le vecchie scuderie. Il lago dista appena 30 mt e nelle vicinanze c'è una piccola spiaggia balenabile. Da Arona si possono fare magnifiche gite sul lago con battelli che portano a Stresa, alle Isole Borromeo e in Svizzera. In inverno è possibile praticare tutta la gamma degli sport su neve nelle vicine montagne. A Casa Usellini si può arrivare in treno lungo la linea del Sempione, in auto e persino in aereo; l'aeroporto della Malpensa dista appena 30km. Un pò di storia:
Antica dimora storica, dichiarata monumento nazionale nel 1978 con vicolo diretto della Soprintendenza ai Beni Architettonici, è stata costruita da Carlo Antonio Usellini nel 1783 su progetto di un ignoto architetto olandese. Utilizzata come residenza per circa un secolo, agli inizi del 1900 subisce un'importante ristrutturazione e diviene casa di villeggiatura. Fu casa di ispirazione per il pittore Gianfilippo Usellini (1903 - 1971) che ne ritrasse molti scorci nei suoi quadri. Fu dimora temporanea anche per Gugliemo Usellini (1906 - 1958) fondatore del Movimento Federalista Europeo con Jean Monnet e Altiero Spinelli. La casa è tutt'ora abitata dai componenti della Famiglia Usellini. In estate ospita alcune manifestazioni culturali come concerti di musica classica e spettacoli teatrali. L'uscita dell'autostrada E62/A26 Milano – Gravellona Toce è Castelletto Ticino per chi proviene da Milano, Como o Varese; è Arona per chi proviene da Genova o Torino. Si seguono le indicazioni verso Arona per circa 5 km. Una volta arrivati in città si prosegue lungo il lago fino a piazza Del Popolo lì inizia via Pertossi. In fondo alla piazza ai lati della strada che prosegue in salita, vi sono due ampi parcheggi. Per chi arriva in treno via Pertossi dista 500 mt a piedi dalla stazione ma se avete bagagli pesanti vi veniamo anche a prendere!! ENGLISH
Arona, situated on the Lake Maggiore and in the heart of the city's historical center, you can find Usellini Palace, an historical middle-class house of 1700. Juan Carlos Usellini has restored the old sheds and carriages for horses to make home for his family. The Palace offers 1 comfortable rooms in a very unique and special location. A large courtyard is surrounded by three distinct buildings, the Palace itself, with a portico with columns of pink granite from Baveno supporting a broad terrace; the celebrations House, as a backdrop to the Italian garden, and the old stables. The lake is just 30 meters away, with few equipped bathing facilities in the nearby area. From Arona you can take beautiful trips, by boat or by car, to Stresa, the Borromeo Islands and reaching even Switzerland. During winter time, you can enjoy the full range of winter sports in the nearby mountains. Usellini Palace can be reached by train along the Simplon line, by car and by plane: the airport of Malpensa is just 30km away. Old historic home, declare national monument in 1978 with direct alley of Architectural Heritage, built by Carlo Antonio Usellini in 1783 and designed by an unknown Dutch architect . The oldest part of the House dates back to 1530. Used as a residence for nearly a century, in the early 1900s undergoes major restructuring to become summer residence. The house has been featured in many of Gianfilippo Usellini (1903-1971) paintings, and many different angles can be recognized in his works. The Palace housed also William Usellini (1906 – 1958), founder of the European Federalist Movement, together with Jean Monnet and Spinelli. The house is still to these days inhabited by members of the Family Usellini. During the summer it hosts some cultural events such as concerts of classical music and theater pieces. The house hosts also the office of the company Usellini restorations. Here you can find us:
BY CAR: The exit is Castelletto Ticino (E62/A26 Milan - Gravellona Toce freeway) coming from Milan, Como and Varese; Arona coming from Genoa and Turin freeway. Follow the signs towards Arona for about 5 km. Once in town, continue along the lake to Piazza del Popolo; the first sidestreet on the right is via Pertossi. At the end of the Piazza del Popolo, two big free parking area are located on both sides of the road that leads out of the city. BY TRAIN: via Pertossi is 500 meters walk from the station, walk on the pedestrian street where all the shops are located, until you reached the Piazza del Popolo. If you have heavy luggages, we also come to pick you up!
