Steam rises off the water in the middle of town on cold mornings. ♨️🏛️

Bagno Vignoni's central basin was built in the sixteenth century over springs the Romans had already used. Catherine of Siena and Lorenzo de' Medici both bathed here. ⏳📜

Swimming in the square is prohibited, but the water flows out to an old mill area with free travertine pools below. 💧✨

🇮🇹 5 DAYS IN TUSCANY FROM ASCIANO

One peaceful base. Five days. Five different sides of Tuscany.

Planning a 5-day Tuscany itinerary and wondering where to stay?

You don't have to change accommodation every night.

Asciano, in the heart of the Crete Senesi, is a wonderful base for exploring Siena, Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano and the Val d'Orcia — while returning to the same peaceful place each evening.

Here is how we would plan five days in Tuscany from Sosta Eroica:

🏛️ DAY 1 — SIENA & THE CRETE SENESI

Start in Siena, one of Tuscany's most beautiful medieval cities.

Explore Piazza del Campo, the Cathedral and the historic centre, then head back towards the Crete Senesi.

On the way, take your time to discover the countryside around Asciano, Leonina and the Biancane.

🌅 Local tip: stay until late afternoon. The changing light can transform the colours of the Crete Senesi.

🍷 DAY 2 — CHIANTI W**E COUNTRY

Spend a day among the vineyards and historic villages of Chianti.

Walk through its historic centre, explore the w**e cellars and enjoy the panoramic views towards the surrounding countryside.

It's a perfect combination of history, architecture, w**e and landscapes.

🌿 DAY 5 — VAL D'ORCIA

Finish your journey in the Val d'Orcia, one of the most iconic landscapes in Tuscany.

Visit Pienza, continue to San Quirico d'Orcia and, if time allows, stop at Bagno Vignoni.
