This mural, created by the street artist About Pony, portrays an elderly man with a long beard and an intense, thoughtful gaze. His hands are clasped together, almost as if in prayer or deep reflection. The work is executed in black and white, using a highly realistic stencil-like technique that creates a striking contrast with the metal surface of the shutter.

Proseguendo lungo Via del Pratello, tra serrande dipinte e muri che raccontano storie, lo sguardo viene improvvisamente catturato da un volto intenso che emerge dal buio.

Questo murale, firmato dallo street artist About Pony, raffigura un uomo anziano con una lunga barba e uno sguardo penetrante. Le mani sono unite, quasi in un gesto di preghiera o di riflessione. L’immagine è realizzata in bianco e nero, con un tratto molto realistico che ricorda la tecnica dello stencil e che crea un forte contrasto con la superficie metallica della serranda.

A colpire non è solo la qualità del disegno, ma soprattutto l’espressione del personaggio. Gli occhi sembrano seguire chi passa, invitando a fermarsi per un momento. I MURALES DEL PRATELLO BOLOGNA

At the end of Via del Pratello, one of the city's liveliest and most popular neighborhoods, two big names in international street art—Ericailcane and Bastardilla—have transformed a simple shutter into a surprising and meaningful scene.

At first glance, it almost seems like an urban fairytale: small, wide-eyed mice organize themselves to defend themselves, brandishing common objects like coins and cotton swabs. Not weapons, but everyday tools transformed into symbols of ingenuity and resistance. Animals, typical protagonists of Ericailcane's imagination, become a mirror of our fears, our weaknesses... but also of our ability to react.

On the adjacent wall, Colombian artist Bastardilla adds another level of interpretation: a female figure uses a COVID-19 mask as a slingshot to launch purple balloons. An ironic and poetic gesture that recalls one of the most complex moments in recent history.

Created in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, this mural speaks to something many visitors immediately recognize: the ability of communities to remain united even in difficult times. In the heart of Pratello, a neighborhood known for its rebellious and convivial spirit, urban art becomes storytelling, memory, and a touch of irony.

And just as often happens in Bologna, behind a funny image lies a story that speaks to us all.

In fondo a Via del Pratello, uno dei quartieri più vivaci e popolari della città, due grandi nomi della street art internazionale — Ericailcane e Bastardilla — hanno trasformato una semplice serranda in una scena sorprendente e piena di significati.

A prima vista sembra quasi una favola urbana: piccoli topi dagli occhi spalancati si organizzano per difendersi, brandendo oggetti comuni come monetine e cotton fioc. Non armi, ma strumenti quotidiani trasformati in simboli di ingegno e resistenza. Gli animali, protagonisti tipici dell’immaginario di Ericailcane, diventano lo specchio delle nostre paure, delle nostre debolezze… ma anche della nostra capacità di reagire.

Sul muro accanto, l’artista colombiana Bastardilla aggiunge un altro livello di lettura: una figura femminile usa una mascherina anti-Covid come fionda per lanciare palloncini viola. Un gesto ironico e poetico che richiama uno dei momenti più complessi della storia recente.

Realizzato nel 2020, in piena pandemia, questo murale racconta qualcosa che molti visitatori riconoscono subito: la capacità delle comunità di restare unite anche nei momenti difficili. Nel cuore del Pratello, quartiere noto per la sua anima ribelle e conviviale, l’arte urbana diventa così racconto, memoria e un pizzico di ironia.

E proprio come spesso accade a Bologna, dietro un’immagine divertente si nasconde una storia che parla di tutti noi.
