C'è un dettaglio che succede ogni vendemmia, silenziosamente, tra i filari.
Chi raccoglie le uve mette il proprio nome sulla cassetta che ha appena riempito. Non è un obbligo, è un gesto. Significa che quelle uve sono tue, che la selezione che hai fatto è tua, che il vino che nascerà porta anche la tua firma.
Le stesse persone che hanno potato, legato e curato le viti per tutto l'anno sono le stesse che raccolgono. Conoscono ogni filare, ogni pianta. Sanno cosa hanno messo dentro, e sanno cosa vogliono ti**re fuori.
È un piccolo dettaglio che cambia tutto.

"C'è un vitigno che al d fuori del comune di Verduno quasi nessuno conosceva, e forse andava bene così.
Il Pelaverga è raro per definizione: esiste solo qui, su pochi ettari di collina, e non ha nessuna intenzione di diventare altro. Lo riconosci subito anche dalla bottiglia: etichetta azzurro acceso, un dettaglio controcorrente che dice già tutto sul vino che contiene. Con quella nota vellutata di pepe bianco che lo rende inconfondibile anche al palato.
Come la poesia ""I ragazzi che si amano"" di Jacques Prévert: bellezza improvvisa, libera, che appartiene solo a chi la vive.
O come nel film ""Le fate ignoranti"" di Ferzan Ozpetek: calore autentico, relazioni inaspettate, la scoperta che le cose più vere nascono dove meno te lo aspetti.
Bevetelo con tutto quello e con chi più vi piace.

🇬🇧 There is a grape variety that almost no one outside the village of Verduno knew about—and perhaps that was just as well.
Pelaverga is rare by definition: it exists only here, on a few hectares of hillside, and has no intention of becoming anything else. You recognize it immediately even by the bottle: a bright blue label, an unconventional detail that says it all about the wine it contains. With that velvety note of white pepper that makes it unmistakable on the palate as well.
Like Jacques Prévert’s poem “Les enfants qui s’aiment”: sudden, free beauty that belongs only to those ones who experience it.

In cantina c'è sempre qualcuno che tiene tutto sotto controllo.
Giuseppe Ascheri, 33 anni, ingegnere. Settima generazione attiva nell'isola Ascheri. Si occupa di logistica e strategia, che tradotto significa: pianifica tutto, anche quello che non si può pianificare.
Il suo superpotere funziona anche fuori dall'orario di lavoro: è un degustatore seriale, con un occhio sempre in allerta per verificare che in cantina non si facciano cazzate.
Ama il basket e la musica. Quella buona, tiene a precisare. E non solo da ascoltatore: suona il basso nella sua band e la chitarra. Perché in famiglia, tra vini unplugged e vinili, una certa sensibilità musicale era inevitabile.

🇬🇧 There’s always someone at the winery keeping everything under control.
Giuseppe Ascheri, 33, an engineer. He’s the seventh generation of the family active on the Ascheri island. He handles strategy and logistics, which basically means: he plans everything—even the things you can’t plan.
His superpower works even outside of work hours: he’s a serial taster, always keeping a watchful eye to make sure no one screws up in the cellar.
He loves basketball and music—the good stuff, he’s quick to point out. And not just as a listener: he plays bass and guitar in his band. Because in a family surrounded by unplugged wines and vinyl records, a certain musical sensibility was inevitable.

L'abbiamo inventata, questa parola. Perché non ne esisteva una abbastanza precisa per descrivere quello che avevamo in mente.
Gli 𝑰𝑹𝑹𝑬𝑮𝑶𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑻𝑰 non sono ribelli per caso. Sono persone e imprese che scelgono consapevolmente una traiettoria propria, anche quando il contesto suggerirebbe di accomodarsi dentro un formato già pronto.

C'è chi vuole che un bianco sia verticale, fresco, immediato. Il Montalupa Bianco ha deciso di essere altro.
Le uve Viognier da un vigneto del Roero piantato nei primi anni Novanta, su suolo sabbioso marino, a poco meno di 300 metri danno vita a un bianco costruito sulla complessità e sulla struttura, piemontese nell'anima ma irregolare nel carattere. Prodotto solo nelle annate migliori, affinato almeno 18 mesi in bottiglia prima di uscire nel mondo. Un vino da seguire nel tempo insomma...
Abbinalo al film "L'Isola delle Rose" di Sydney Sibilia: l'storia di chi costruisce qualcosa di impossibile e lo fa comunque, fuori da ogni schema.
O lasciati accompagnare dal quadro Convergenza di Jackson Po***ck: energia apparentemente caotica che nasconde una logica profonda, strati che si rivelano solo a chi ha pazienza di guardare.
Tre linguaggi diversi. La stessa cosa da dire.

In cantina c'è una regola non scritta: Matteo vede tutto, sa tutto, controlla tutto. Almeno così gli piace pensare...

Matteo Ascheri è la sesta generazione di una famiglia che fa vino a Bra dal 1880. È il figlio che è salito sul camion con suo padre per portare a casa le uve, ed è diventato l'uomo che ha trasformato una cantina urbana in un progetto culturale riconosciuto dal Financial Times, dal Corriere della Sera, da Wine Spectator.

Non ha mai seguito la strada più comoda. Ha lasciato il Consorzio del Barolo quando ha capito che le sue idee non trovavano spazio. Ha scelto di restare in città quando tutti andavano in collina. Ha assunto tutti i suoi lavoratori quando il settore guardava dall'altra parte.

Ama Battiato, i Depeche Mode e i Pink Floyd. Se potesse avere un superpotere, ridurrebbe l'ego di certe persone a quote più normali. L'attore che lo impersonerebbe? Sean Connery, ultima versione.

Irregolare per scelta. Coerente per natura.

C’è una parola che usiamo spesso, da queste parti: 𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞.
Non è una provocazione, è una scelta. In un mondo che premia chi sta negli schemi, noi abbiamo sempre preferito fare le cose a modo nostro: il vino, il lavoro, le persone, il territorio.

Il 7 settembre celebriamo tutto questo con un evento che porta quel nome: IRREGOLANTI - vini, mani, vinili.
Una mattina dedicata alla stampa e alle istituzioni, un pomeriggio aperto a tutti e tutte: vini, cibo, musica, persone.

L’isola Ascheri come non l’avete mai vista.
